What is the atmosphere like at Sutbul Seonghwa?

As the name suggests, Sutbul Seonghwa is an upscale beef restaurant full of charcoal-fire character, where you grill meat over the grill. Doesn't it look delicious just sitting there? The staff grill all the meat at the start, and they explain and set up the food with real care. I'd recommend it as a date spot or for group gatherings with some atmosphere.

The whole place is super clean, and to match the charcoal concept there are fires at every little spot! It's fun to look around, and it even gives off a campfire kind of feeling.

There are private rooms toward the back too! You can reserve the seat you want.

What cuts come in the Seonghwa platter 400g?

The Seonghwa platter 400g at Sutbul Seonghwa, for two people, comes with snowflake beef (marbled chuck flap), cubed flower rib, and wine-marinated short rib. A free dessert ice cream is included too.

Generous meat is one thing, but they also prepare one mushroom per person to eat alongside it!

There's a nice range of other sides to go with the meat, and the rice isn't just rice, it's premium Joseon Hyangmi rice! Freshly cooked, and the aroma is seriously great.

Drinks at Sutbul Seonghwa are ₩6,000 for soju and ₩6,000 for beer. Just so you know the prices.

How are the table setting and palette seasonings served?

As soon as you order, the staff carefully prepare the table setting piece by piece. It was such a treat just to look at!

A paint palette dish! This was so fun too. It starts with coarse Maldon salt and is generously filled with spices, fresh wasabi and whole-grain mustard.

Do the staff grill the meat for you at Sutbul Seonghwa?

At the start, a staff member carefully grills everything once, adjusting the amount and doneness. We wanted to take our time with the wine we'd brought, so we asked for a small amount to be grilled. They grilled every single piece with care.

Atmosphere + taste + location, of course, but they also pile in a real load of charcoal, so the smoky aroma comes through with every piece you grill.

I just dipped it once in the coarse salt and I could really feel the juices in my mouth.

Is Sutbul Seonghwa good for a quiet date?

The atmosphere isn't loud at all, and the tables are nicely spaced, so we could eat privately, just the two of us.

Doenjang stew, dessert ice cream and a walk around Seokchon Lake

We ordered one extra side of doenjang stew (soybean paste stew). Sure enough, it was packed with meat, rich and nutty, and with the zucchini it made a great palate cleanser!

And the ice cream for the final palate cleanser! They prepared one of each flavor. We shared a bite each, haha, and wrapped up a lovely date. After a full meal, walking around nearby Seokchon Lake was real healing! I'd recommend eating at Sutbul Seonghwa two or three times over.
