Korean BBQ near Balsan Station with 6 dipping sauces: Chamdwaejitgan

In short

Chamdwaejitgan Magok Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Queens Park Nine Building C in Gangseo, Seoul, a 1-minute walk from Exit 9 of Balsan Station. The writer ordered 1 serving of heukdwaeji ogyeopsal (black pork five-layer belly), 2 servings of Boseong nokdon samgyeopsal (Boseong pork belly) and soy sauce egg rice. Staff grilled the meat at the table, and it was eaten with 6 dipping sauces, potato wraps, grilled sour kimchi and minari (Korean water parsley). If you want pork belly livened up with sides and sauces rather than served plain, Chamdwaejitgan Magok Branch is a good fit.

Why I chose Chamdwaejitgan Magok Branch

I've been craving good pork BBQ lately, and while searching for Korean BBQ spots near Balsan Station, I found Chamdwaejitgan Magok Branch. 🥩

Here, staff grill the meat for you, and instead of just plain samgyeopsal (pork belly), you get to enjoy it with potato wraps, minari, grilled kimchi, and even 6 different sauces — I was curious to try it!

Spoiler alert: it turned out to be a satisfying Magok Korean BBQ spot where I could fully enjoy both the meat and all the sides 🤍 Let's get into the review!

It's in the Megabox building of Queens Park Nine Building C, across from Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital, so it wasn't hard to find at all +_+ If you're driving, you can use the building parking, and 2 hours are free 🚗

Walking in, the whole place felt clean and lively! It was a weekend evening so there were quite a few customers, but the staff were friendly even while busy, which I appreciated 😊

What we ordered: black pork belly, Boseong pork belly, soy sauce egg rice

At Chamdwaejitgan Magok Branch, you can conveniently order from a tablet at your table :)

  • 🥩 Heukdwaeji ogyeopsal (black pork five-layer belly) 1 serving
  • 🥩 Boseong nokdon samgyeopsal (pork belly) 2 servings
  • 🍳 Soy sauce egg rice

This is what we ordered! We didn't want to just stick with samgyeopsal so we added ogyeopsal too, haha.

Staff grill the meat for you

And here's the biggest perk of Chamdwaejitgan — the staff grill the meat for you.

Grilling meat yourself can be kind of stressful, but here they grill it perfectly from start to finish, so we could just relax and chat while eating 🤍 They kept an eye on the meat and cut it at just the right moment, which was seriously convenient.

6 dipping sauces

And here's the real highlight! There were a whopping 6 sauces to dip the meat in 👀 Instead of sticking to just one, you can switch it up based on your mood, so there was never a dull moment throughout the meal.

How was the Boseong pork belly?

We started with the Boseong nokdon samgyeopsal (pork belly) turning golden brown!! Just the sight of the meat sizzling on the grill already looked delicious...🥹

At Chamdwaejitgan Magok Branch, this pork belly favorite, the cuts were nicely thick, so the first bite was juicy inside with a good crisp texture on the outside from the golden grilling.

Potato wraps: thinly grilled potato instead of lettuce

What I especially loved at Chamdwaejitgan was the potato wraps! 🥔 They grill potatoes sliced super thin, and you wrap the meat in them like a lettuce wrap.

The mild, nutty flavor of the potato surprisingly went so well with the pork belly, it was quite the hidden gem. Haha. If you usually only wrap your meat in lettuce or perilla leaves, I recommend trying the potato wrap for something different! 👍

Grilled sour kimchi and minari combo

We also tried the grilled sour kimchi and minari, essentials when eating pork BBQ. They grill the sour kimchi right on the grill with the meat, and the tangy kimchi meeting the rich, fatty pork belly is a combo that needs no explanation, haha. Put a piece of grilled kimchi on top of each bite of meat and it just keeps going.

Adding the distinct fragrance of minari on top cut through the richness and it was so good 🌿 If you like the pork belly + minari combo, you'll definitely love this!

Soy sauce egg rice and black pork five-layer belly

For a side, we ordered soy sauce egg rice 🍳 Eating it between bites of meat, its salty, nutty flavor goes really well. It's a great menu to order when eating meat alone gets too heavy!

Lastly, we finished off with the heukdwaeji ogyeopsal (black pork five-layer belly). It had a different, chewier texture from the samgyeopsal, and I was glad we ordered both. If you love meat, I recommend the samgyeopsal + ogyeopsal combo like we did 🥩🤍

Chewy black pork five-layer belly

Overall the meat was delicious, but what I especially appreciated was the staff grilling it for us and being genuinely kind throughout. Not having to worry about grill timing and just eating comfortably made a bigger difference than I expected, haha. So I'd highly recommend this as a clean, sincere BBQ spot near Balsan Station!

Even the finishing touches at Chamdwaejitgan Magok Branch were on point, haha. Hair ties, floss, mouthwash, yogurt, candy — they really had everything ❤️

To sum up

  • ✔️ 1-minute walk from Balsan Station Exit 9
  • ✔️ Staff grill the meat for you
  • ✔️ Potato wraps as a unique side
  • ✔️ Grilled sour kimchi & minari
  • ✔️ 6 dipping sauces for the meat
  • ✔️ 2 hours free parking

If you want to enjoy your meat differently, with various sides and sauces instead of plain samgyeopsal, I think you'll have even more fun here 🤍 The potato wraps with meat on top were surprisingly delicious, so I know I'll order them again next time, haha. If you're looking for a Korean BBQ favorite near Balsan Station, I recommend Chamdwaejitgan Magok Branch! 🥩✨
