Hello! I was looking for a dinner spot around Sinwolseong today and ended up at Miso Gopchang Wolseong! Sometimes you want gopchang (beef intestine) but can't be bothered with grilling and watching it yourself — here, the mixed gopchang combo comes out already fully grilled, so I could just eat comfortably.
It's located right in the heart of the Sinwolseong commercial district, so it's a good spot for a meal and then a second round nearby, and the vibe inside was relaxed and easy for a drink.

Inside the Sinwolseong district, the exterior vibe

Miso Gopchang Wolseong sits inside the Sinwolseong commercial district, surrounded by other restaurants and bars. I visited in the evening and saw both families out for dinner and groups of friends enjoying gopchang with drinks.
Interior mood and seating

The inside had a retro yet clean interior, and the tables were spaced out well enough to enjoy the meal comfortably. Also, there wasn't much smoke or smell — very pleasant!
There are outdoor tables too, so once the weather cools down it'd be nice to eat outside. Overall it felt like a comfortable place to sit down for a meal and a drink.
Menu lineup at Miso Gopchang Wolseong and the order to eat it in

Here's how the menu is set up. It looked like most people order the combo. Another nice thing about Miso Gopchang Wolseong is the side dish lineup — I wanted to try everything and agonized over which sides to order.

There's even a detailed guide on how to eat it deliciously. Since beef heart gets chewy once it cools, the tip is to eat it first when having the combo! ✌🏻
The Miso combo and the complimentary abalone-scallop soup, an honest review

We wanted to try a bit of everything at once, so we ordered the Miso combo. As soon as we ordered, the abalone-scallop soup came out first as a service dish.
Once the soup starts boiling, they come and prep the abalone and clams for you right at the table haha.

Dipping the abalone in the secret sauce, it was chewy and bouncy in the best way.
It wasn't long before the mixed gopchang combo came out — already fully grilled. With gopchang, you usually have to keep watching the grill to check if it's cooked, which is a hassle, but here it arrived ready to eat from the start. Miso Gopchang was great for not having to wait around for the grilling.
Being able to try several cuts at once made it fun to sample one by one, and it paired really well as a drinking snack. And they pile the chives on like a mountain — you know chives are a must with gopchang, right? Haha.

Eating the gopchang alongside the refreshing clam soup broth was a great combo 👍🏻 And check out how plump and juicy that daechang (large intestine) looks.
The owner personally cut everything for us and showed us how to eat it well and which sauce goes with which cut, so all we had to do was eat 💕

Just look at this! The beef heart was so chewy and delicious. The sliced potatoes had mozzarella cheese on them too, which was really good.
Finishing off with cheese kimchi fried rice
Last but not least was the kimchi fried rice + extra cheese we ordered. With egg spread all across the top and melted cheese on the kimchi fried rice, it was the perfect way to close out the meal after gopchang. The portion was plenty for two to share.
Once the cheese fully melts, you mix it all together and — it's just so satisfying 🥺 You really have to try this kimchi fried rice!! I was torn between it and the doenjang rice, but ordering the kimchi fried rice was definitely the right choice.
Above all, the owner and staff were so friendly that we could enjoy the meal without any awkwardness the whole time.
Nostalgic paper lottery review event and the Jjanggembo game

If you write a Naver review, you can take part in a nostalgic paper lottery draw.

I feel like stationery shops used to have these back in elementary school — it's been a while since I've seen one haha.

I have zero luck with these draws, so not landing a total dud already felt like a win — I got ₩500 in Jjanggembo game money haha.

So they hand you ₩500.

You just put the money into the Jjanggembo arcade machine by the entrance and play haha. It was my first time playing Jjanggembo and it was actually fun.

And if you finish with some strawberry ice cream for dessert—

—that's the perfect end to the meal!
Overall verdict: gopchang and drinks in Sinwolseong
If you're looking for a place where you can eat gopchang without the hassle of grilling and waiting, I highly recommend Miso Gopchang Wolseong. Having the mixed gopchang combo come out already fully grilled was so convenient, and getting a soup with abalone and scallop as a free extra meant we got to enjoy a wide variety of dishes alongside the gopchang!
With the nostalgic Jjanggembo game and paper lottery event on top, it offers a bit of extra fun compared to other gopchang spots haha. If you're looking for somewhere in Sinwolseong to have gopchang and a drink in the evening, I'd recommend it! It's easy to get to since it's right in the heart of the Sinwolseong commercial district, and it would suit anyone looking for a good Sinwolseong restaurant and bar to go for both a meal and drinks together ✌🏻
