O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch (오형제황제누룽지탕 하남미사본점) is a Chinese restaurant specializing in nurungjitang (scorched-rice soup) on Misa-daero in Hanam, Gyeonggi. On a windy, rainy, chilly day, the writer and their child ordered the abalone nurungjitang (20,000 won) and tenderloin tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour pork). The child ate a whole abalone and even drank the white kimchi broth. With a spacious dining room and mild, non-irritating flavors, O Hyeongje is a solid pick for a family meal with kids and grandparents.

Magic show in Songdo for kids afraid of big theaters: Miraenae Magic

Miraenae Magic Troupe Songdo is a small children's magic show theater on the 3rd floor of Building D at Triple Street in Songdo, Yeonsu, Incheon. The writer took a preschooler who had wanted to see a magic show for months to the Sunday 2pm show; because the stage is close, the child, who is scared of big theaters, stayed focused to the end, and the show included audience-participation tricks and a magic lesson. For a magic show to see with a preschooler, Miraenae Magic Troupe Songdo was a very satisfying choice.

Apple Smile is a casual kids' clothing brand store at Bourdain Kids' Wear (부르뎅아동복) shop 12 in Namdaemun Market, Jung-gu, Seoul, and the brand dates back to 2006. During a kids' clothing sale, the writer visited Apple Smile with her son and bought a top and four-way stretch cotton pants exactly as they were styled in the shop, happy with both the fabric and the price. For moms who care about fabric thickness and quality for the price, Apple Smile is worth a visit for fall and winter kids' clothes.

Songjeongok is a good-value set meal worth recommending for dining with children or parents.

Beach-day dinner with a kid at a Haeundae Chinese restaurant: Bueokgan

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is an ocean-view Chinese restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building in Marine City, Haeundae, Busan. After swimming at Haeundae Beach, a parent and child ate there around 7pm at a window-side sofa seat, ordering Bueok jajangmyeon (black bean noodles), beef brisket jjamppong (spicy noodle soup) and a small black vinegar pork tenderloin tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork). Jajangmyeon is 8,000 won and portions were big enough that part of the small tangsuyuk went home in a takeout box, so Bueokgan Chinese is a recommended dinner for a Busan trip with kids.
