Gwangalli pizzeria weekday daytime beer with crayons: Extra Mile
In short
Extra Mile (엑스트라마일) is a pizza and pasta restaurant in a converted house in Gwangalli, Suyeong-gu, Busan. On a weekday lunch visit on foot, the writer ordered the ₩42,000 Classic Combo for two (a hot honey pepperoni and potato half-and-half pizza plus peanut butter pasta) and enjoyed daytime beer with two Budweiser drafts. At Extra Mile, coloring the pizza and Gwangan Bridge on the paper table sheet with crayons kept the wait from ever feeling boring.

A special Busan memory: Extra Mile, a Western-style restaurant in Gwangalli.

Today I'm sharing a place I visited in Busan on a weekday lunch. It's Extra Mile in Gwangalli!

It was a weekday afternoon with the sun blazing, and we left the car behind and walked there for the first time in a while, haha. It had been ages since I'd had a beer in the daytime, so I was looking forward to this place even before arriving, hahahaha.
Where is Extra Mile in Gwangalli, and when is it open?
Extra Mile is at 11 Suyeong-ro 554beon-gil, Suyeong-gu, Busan (1st floor), open daily 11:00 to 21:00 (last order 20:00). There's no dedicated parking, so you'll need a nearby paid lot.
I heard it's a new Gwangalli branch from the same team behind Jeonpo-dong's Freewill Pizza, Pickles and Upper East Bakery!
A converted house: Extra Mile's exterior and atmosphere

The exterior looks like a converted house, like a pretty restaurant you'd find in Haenggung-dong. The clock-shaped dish hanging at the entrance and the stylishly done menu board caught my eye before we even went in!

Staff in white uniforms, navy aprons and blue caps showed us to our seats! The neat service got us off to a good start before we even sat down, haha.

Coloring the table sheet with crayons makes the wait fun
While you wait after ordering, every table has crayons in a paper cup!

The paper laid over the table is set up for coloring, and we colored in a pizza and Gwangan Bridge while waiting, so there was no chance to get bored, haha.

Art-teacher showcase time? Coloring away together with my boyfriend made a special memory!
Table setting
Pickles came out first, and the tableware was tidy and so pretty. The cup coasters are paper yachts, and little details like that show how much love went into the place, haha.
Hot honey pepperoni and potato half-and-half pizza

The moment it arrived, the look stood out. It looked like a wood-fired pizza!

On the potato side, thinly sliced Dubaek potatoes crunch as you chew, topped with fried shredded potato, so you get two textures at once.

It's seriously good..! The dough is super crispy too. The textures of dough, sauce and potato worked well together overall. The truffle aroma spreads subtly and blends with rich cheese, but it isn't overpowering, so I could eat comfortably to the end. Having tried it myself, I understand why the potato pizza made with Dubaek potatoes is the signature.

On the hot honey pepperoni side, the slightly sweet and spicy flavor was the kicker! It's spicier than you'd expect!! The honey's sweetness softens the pepperoni's saltiness, and the pickled chili kept a sharp, tangy accent, haha.
Honey and pizza go well together, so dipping was fun.
Peanut butter pasta

The tastiest thing I ate in Busan, to my taste... the best, ㅠㅠ It comes with pork, peanut butter, cilantro, lime, chili oil and nuts, and it was my first time eating a pasta with chili oil and peanut butter together!

The noodles had that chewy fresh-pasta texture, and the cilantro on top and the spicy peanut butter sauce blended well. The pork sauce was seasoned just right, so the balance was good overall, and squeezing lime on a bite added freshness and made the cilantro aroma pop!!!
Daytime pizza and beer in Gwangalli

Pizza and beer in the daytime felt extra special, haha. Pizza with draft beer was a really good match, and
the potato's light crunch, the pepperoni's sweet heat, the nutty and fragrant charm of chili oil and peanut butter..
No more words needed for that combo.. hahaha! The beer went down so smoothly, which made it perfect for a light daytime drink.
Good to know before visiting Extra Mile

It's open daily 11:00 to 21:00, with last order at 20:00. As a new branch from the team behind Freewill Pizza, Pickles and Upper East Bakery, known as the three big names of Jeonpo-dong, it was already nearly full on a weekday afternoon!! I'd recommend checking the timing before you go.
There's no parking of its own, so you'll need a nearby paid lot, and leaving the car behind and walking there could make a nice outing too.
Final verdict on Extra Mile
The converted house felt comfortable yet stylish, and both the Dubaek potato pizza and the peanut butter pasta had a distinct personality.
If you want a light pizza-and-beer in the daytime, or you're looking for a lunch date spot, Extra Mile in Gwangalli is worth a visit!
