You get thick, chewy aged sashimi, all kinds of seafood, mulhoe (cold spicy raw fish soup) and mussel soup. The outdoor seating and free corkage, which means you can bring your own favorite drinks, made me very happy. I heard dogs are welcome at the outdoor seats on nice days, so it's good for anyone looking for a place to go with their pup too, haha. For everyone searching for aged sashimi in Sangbong, I'll cover the atmosphere, the menu and my honest review of what I ate.
Is Hoepanjang Sangbong dog-friendly at the outdoor seats?

Hoepanjang Sangbong says pets are allowed at the outdoor seating. When I visited, the weather was nice, so the outdoor tables were full of customers. Sashimi and a glass of soju outdoors is the best, isn't it...? T_T Looking at the photos now, I want to go again.
And as a dog mom, the dog-friendly outdoor seating is what personally caught my eye! If you want to visit with your dog on a nice day, it's worth knowing about, haha.

Inside Hoepanjang Sangbong: seating and atmosphere
The inside of Hoepanjang Sangbong had a clean yet cozy interior. For a get-together with friends or a company dinner where you want the outdoor vibe, pick the outdoor seats! When you want a more relaxed date or meal, you can use the indoor seats, which I liked~ If you're looking for a place near Sangbong Station for a cold soju, this kind of outdoor sashimi restaurant is a good option.

The name Hoepanjang was fresh too. It's taken from eopanjang, the fish market where fishermen head first after finishing their catch.
What comes in the ₩54,000 small mixed sashimi platter for 2?

At Hoepanjang Sangbong, we looked over the menu and ordered the small mixed sashimi platter for 2 at ₩54,000. At first I thought the sashimi would be the main part, but once the table started filling up, the spread was quite varied!
From silkworm pupa soup to mussel soup: plenty of sides

The mixed sashimi platter at Hoepanjang Sangbong came with beondegi-tang (silkworm pupa soup), corn, fried snacks and mini jeon (savory pancakes), plus a warm mussel soup. I liked how varied the food was. The hot mussel soup was perfect with the sashimi! There's something like the silkworm pupa soup that goes great as a drinking snack, and light bites like the corn, so it's soju time...
How was the aged sashimi at Hoepanjang Sangbong?
The aged flounder sashimi at Hoepanjang Sangbong was cut thick, with a chewy texture and a mildly sweet taste. It looked so tempting T_T and when I took a bite, it really was like that.

When sashimi is too thin, the chew disappears right away, doesn't it T_T At Hoepanjang Sangbong the slices had some thickness, so the texture came through the more I chewed. I could also taste the savory depth typical of aged sashimi, so I kept reaching for more... T_T

If you're searching for aged sashimi in Sangbong, I recommend Hoepanjang Sangbong~

It's a menu for 2, so I thought the portion would be modest, but as we ate I was surprised at how generous the sashimi was!!!
Are the sides unlimited at Hoepanjang Sangbong?

Yes, the skidashi (side dishes served with sashimi) at Hoepanjang Sangbong are unlimited refills. This was one of the things I liked! Isn't that a steal for ₩54,000, seriously? T_T You don't just eat sashimi, you can enjoy a variety of basic sides, and being able to refill whatever runs out was so nice. Besides the thick sashimi, there were several kinds of seafood, rice, mulhoe, salad, side dishes and a warm soup.
A seafood platter with sea squirt, sea cucumber, conch and abalone

Besides sashimi, the mixed platter at Hoepanjang Sangbong came with sea squirt, sea cucumber, conch, abalone and other seafood, so we got to taste a bit of everything, haha. I was really happy that I could enjoy several kinds at once without ordering each seafood separately. When you want both sashimi and seafood, don't you end up wondering whether to order several dishes?! Since it all came on one platter, choosing was easy too~~
