Hongdae salon: ash dye + coating for faded, red-tinged hair, Juno Hair

My dye had been in for quite a while and the color had faded a lot, so I wanted a change of mood and got ash color dye at Juno Hair Hongdae Entrance Branch (준오헤어 홍대입구역점), a hair salon in Hongdae. This time I was treated by the head designer, and everything from the consultation to the treatment to the finish was so thorough that I was really happy. Juno Hair Hongdae Entrance Branch is at 175 Yanghwa-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, on the 2nd floor of the Magellan 21 Officetel (Donggyo-dong 156-2), a 2-minute walk from Exit 2 of Hongik Univ. Station. It's open 10:00–21:00 year-round (closed on the day of major holidays), and days off differ by designer, so check when you book. For parking you can use the underground lot of the Hongik Inkan Officetel next door, and I hear support varies depending on how much you pay.

The salon sits between Exits 2 and 3 of Hongik Univ. Station, so access is really good. You can see it almost as soon as you come out of the station, which makes it easy to drop by before a meetup or around a shopping trip. It's on the 2nd floor, and you can get up easily by elevator.

What is the interior of Juno Hair Hongdae Entrance Branch like?

The interior is really spacious and clean, and I was surprised the moment I walked in, haha. The waiting area was also kept so neatly.

They had hair products for sale placed here and there, and even the packaging was so luxurious...! If you're into hair products, it might be fun to browse while you're getting your treatment, haha

It was much bigger than I expected and the seats were nicely spaced, so it didn't feel stuffy at all. The big windows gave it an open feel, and the mood was bright and pleasant.

There's even more treatment space over on the side. Really spacious, right? haha

How does an ash dye in Hongdae go, from consultation to color?

The ash dye at Juno Hair Hongdae Entrance Branch started with a consultation with the head designer, haha. She told me my current hair color and checked my hair condition first. She didn't just match the color I asked for; she explained the direction that would look prettiest on my hair as it is, which made me trust her. The consultation was so thorough that I could see why so many customers come back!

While the dye was being mixed, a staff member brought me an americano and snacks, so I could sip it and relax through the treatment, haha

Did the ash dye irritate the scalp?

They carefully sprayed a scalp protector on before dyeing, and maybe because of that I felt almost no irritation during the treatment, which was great, haha

The dyeing was done together with a staff member, so the whole treatment finished much faster.

Shampoo room, coating treatment and the finishing cut

The shampoo room at Juno Hair Hongdae Entrance Branch is set up for one person at a time, so I could be looked after much more comfortably. The lighting was soft and it was quiet, enough that it felt like a little break. My hair is the type that loses dye really easily, so to help the color last they finished with coating care too..! These thoughtful little touches were what I really liked, haha. They even gave me a refreshing scalp massage, so it felt healing :)

After the shampoo they thinned out my length and volume a bit and styled it, haha. Getting neater and prettier by the minute...!

Faded, red-tinged hair: before and after the ash dye

Before the treatment, my dye was old and the color had faded a lot, so it had turned reddish and the color was left in a patchy, in-between way that looked messy, right? ㅠㅠ My hair also looked really heavy and needed tidying up.

After the ash color dye at Juno Hair Hongdae Entrance Branch, the redness was naturally knocked down and the whole look became much more polished..! They cut it to keep my curl, so the frizzy feeling got tamed, and my hair looked healthier overall too. The color isn't too much either, just the calm ash color I wanted, so I'm totally satisfied!

They even gave me a shampoo and treatment that help care for dyed hair, such a thoughtful touch...! I was really satisfied right up to the moment I walked out after my hair was done :)

Indoors it looks like a calm ash tone and comes across so clean, I love it, haha. She also taught me how to style it, so I've been going around with it looking so pretty, haha
