Seocho pie café: five housewarming gift pies boxed at Saison de Pie

In short

Saison de Pie (쎄종드파이) is a handmade pie dessert café on a side street near exits 3–4 of Seocho Station in Seocho, Seoul. On a Sunday around 4 p.m., the writer had five pies boxed as a friend's housewarming gift: blueberry, apple, Lululemon, Aurora and pecan. Pies cost 7,800–9,300 won, and the staff fixed them in the box so they would not slide around on the way. Saison de Pie's pies are not too sweet and are generous with fruit and nuts, making the café a good pick for a snack gift.

Where do you all go to buy tasty desserts? Lately I often go to Sweet Park in the basement of Shinsegae Department Store in Gangnam. The desserts there are guaranteed to taste good, but they're already brands that have gone big by local word of mouth. When you want a hidden gem that only you seem to know about, I have a place to recommend! It's Saison de Pie (쎄종드파이), a dessert spot in Seocho near Seocho Station.

What is Saison de Pie?

Saison de Pie is a dessert café specializing in pies, near exits 3 and 4 of Seocho Station. The choice is wide, from familiar pies like pecan, lemon and apple to distinctive seasonal ones, so it already has a word-of-mouth reputation among pie lovers.

A few years ago a friend who attends Sarang Church (Sarang Community Church), right in front of the café, picked it for a meetup, so I came here. I thought it was just a small neighborhood café at first, but I remember being surprised by how high the quality and flavor of the pies were.

Saison de Pie sits in a quiet side street in Seocho-dong. With its cozy, warm wood tones, it's a lovely space whether you want to enjoy dessert alone at your leisure or come with a friend.

Saison de Pie pie menu and prices

Pies at Saison de Pie run from ₩7,800 to ₩9,300 depending on the flavor. I visited around 4 p.m. on a Sunday, and a few pies were sold out, but there was still plenty to choose from.

Blueberry pie ₩9,300

My favorite is the blueberry pie (₩9,300). It's piled with blueberries, cream cheese and mascarpone cream, so it's soft. I'd recommend it if you like creamy textures with a gentle tang.

Lululemon pie ₩9,000

The Lululemon pie (₩9,000) is my husband's favorite. If you usually like citrus-style cakes like orange pound cake or lemon madeleines, definitely try it.

Orion pie and apple pie

I'm sad I couldn't try the Orion pie. I hear it has salted caramel and hazelnut flavors, with 73% chocolate ganache inside.

The apple pie (₩8,800) is said to be Saison de Pie's signature.

The shop isn't big, but it's prettily decorated and kept very clean. They also have coffee and tea, so if you have time, it would be nice to eat your pie there with a drink.

Besides cakes and pies, they sell cookies too, and the packaging is so cute that they seem perfect as gifts or thank-you presents.

Five pies boxed for a friend's housewarming

I boxed five pies from Saison de Pie to bring to a friend's housewarming. When I opened the box at my friend's place, I found they had fixed the pies firmly in place so they didn't shift.

They were the blueberry pie, apple pie, Lululemon pie, Aurora pie and pecan pie.

Happily, my friends loved them and said they were delicious, so I ended up introducing them to Saison de Pie.

How did the handmade pies taste?

The pies at Saison de Pie aren't too sweet or over the top. They use good ingredients and plenty of real fruit, so rather than tasting like a mess of pastry and cream, you taste each ingredient, which is the big plus.

I think that's the charm of handmade pie. Just look at how many apple slices are in the apple pie!

Saison de Pie was perfect with coffee. When you need to buy a snack gift, or you're craving a wholesome pie dessert, I recommend Saison de Pie's handmade pies!
