Late-lunch eel buffet in Siheung Baegot, no break time: Songnim Bok
In short

After 2 p.m. on a weekday, two diners ordered the unlimited set (29,900 won per adult) plus the table setting and charcoal-grilled eel, pork belly and duck neck, while perilla leaf pickles and grilled garlic from the self-serve bar cut the eel's richness. It's getting hot out, which means it's time for some stamina food. I heard about a place where you can eat unlimited eel, so I went to Songnim Bok Jangeo, an eel restaurant in Baegot, Siheung. This summer's stamina boost is unlimited freshwater eel at Songnim Bok Jangeo! Here's my honest review~

Where is Songnim Bok Jangeo in Baegot, and where do you park?
Songnim Bok Jangeo is in Baegot, Siheung, and you can park in the building's underground car park, with parking fees supported! The car park is big too, so it was easy.

Can you eat at Songnim Bok Jangeo after 2 p.m. on a weekday?
There's no break time at Songnim Bok Jangeo, so you can eat even after 2 p.m. on a weekday. I had errands and went at that hour, and there was plenty of room, so I got to have a relaxed lunch, whew!! The air conditioning was blasting, so it was cool and comfortable. The place was clean and the tables were roomy, which made it easy.

Songnim Bok Jangeo all-you-can-eat eel prices
The main menu is, of course, unlimited eel! It's ₩29,900 for adults and ₩14,000 for children, plus a table setting fee of ₩3,000 per person (children excluded). We ordered unlimited for 2 plus the table setting.
- Unlimited, adult: ₩29,900
- Unlimited, child: ₩14,000
- Table setting: ₩3,000 (per person, children excluded)
The table setting comes with the meats and basic side dishes. They also sell eel for takeout. Taking it camping to grill would be so good. Still, eating lots with the unlimited deal in the restaurant is the better value, right?! haha

What's served first and what's at the self-serve bar
When you order at Songnim Bok Jangeo, you first get 3 kinds of meat, eel, pork belly and duck neck, and they set out the basic side dishes too.

After that, extra side dishes and eel and meat are self-service at the self-bar! There was a nice variety of sides that go well with eel, like garlic, ginger, pickled onion, aged kimchi (mukeunji), green onion kimchi and perilla leaf pickles.

Sesame oil dip, ssamjang (seasoned dipping paste) and eel sauce are at the self-bar too, so take whatever you like!!

How to grill eel at Songnim Bok Jangeo, and how it tastes
The eel here is thick and fresh, isn't it?! You need to cook it evenly on the top, bottom and sides. By the way, they said the eel is domestic!!!!

I piled on eel, pork belly and duck neck, as much as I wanted haha. There's charcoal under the grill, so the aroma is great, and the fire stays gently steady, which I think makes it even tastier!!

I'd never had duck neck before, and the soft, springy chew was fun. The pork belly was rich and tasty too!! We grilled and ate it all together with the eel, haha. I came by car, so I was sad I couldn't have bokbunja (Korean black raspberry wine) with it. The other tables were enjoying daytime drinks with their eel, lol.

I love leaf wraps, so I was glad there was lettuce at the self-bar! One wrap with eel and aged kimchi, and with this combo you can keep eating nonstop lol. Don't assume unlimited means poor quality!! The eel was rich without being greasy, and really good. And eel is the best stamina food, right?! You have to eat eel in summer.

The kick: perilla leaf pickles and grilled garlic with eel
The kick at Songnim Bok Jangeo is the perilla leaf pickles at the self-bar. They were so good. Keep eating eel and it can get heavy, but the fresh, not-too-salty perilla leaves wiped the richness away, so I refilled them and ate them with the most relish!!
Pro tip! There's garlic at the self-bar too, and grilling it together with the eel is a perfect match~!

How do eel and pork belly refills work?
Eel and pork belly refills~~~! At Songnim Bok Jangeo you refill whatever you want, as much as you want, at the self-bar, and I was so happy haha. Being able to eat eel to my heart's content like this!!

We went back for eel and pork belly one more time lol. Eating eel until you're stuffed at this price, I love Songnim Bok Jangeo~! haha A proper summer stamina boost, and off we go~~
Verdict: Songnim Bok Jangeo for a late lunch in Siheung Baegot
I went to Songnim Bok Jangeo in Baegot, Siheung for eel for the first time in a while. It's a great eel restaurant and it's even unlimited,,,, I liked being able to use the self-bar comfortably without feeling watched, and the combo of rich eel and fresh perilla pickles was the best! The owner was kind and the place was pleasant, so it's a Siheung spot I want to go back to. I recommend Songnim Bok Jangeo as a Siheung eel restaurant.
