Why I went to Baekga near Dangsan Station
My long hair, full of gray, couldn't wait any longer, so I went to Hair Studio Baekga near Dangsan Station for root dye and a cut. The weather was getting hot and I knew I couldn't put it off.
Time flies in lots of ways, but you feel it most in your looks, sob. The face in the mirror every day is a reality you just have to accept... I kept telling myself I should go to a salon, I should take care of myself, but between a busy life and zero stamina I just lay around... Then it got hot and I thought, no more, so off I went to Baekga near Dangsan Station for a cut!
Location and reservations at Hair Studio Baekga, Dangsan Station Branch
Hair Studio Baekga, Dangsan Station Branch is on the 2nd floor of an arcade building, and there are signs from the entrance all the way to the salon, so it wasn't hard to find. I kept the opening hours in a photo of the sign in the shop.

I booked ahead, of course, and left myself in the hands of a skilled designer.

Thick, half-curly long hair cut to mid-length
My request was to cut my thick, half-curly long hair to mid-length, and the Baekga designer started with a thinning cut. Shaping the outer layers with a layered cut was left until after the root dye.
Gray taking over my head, and nothing but length showing the years... I'd thought some wave was left, but that was just my delusion. From the back it was simply messy half-curly hair. So I asked for a big chop to mid-length. A shorter bob or a blunt bob was more than I could handle, so I went with the safe mid-length...

Snip. This is the first cut and it looks incredibly clunky. My hair is so thick that the designer carefully focused on thinning first. Tidying the outer layers with a layered cut would wait until after the root dye, once I'd washed my hair.
How the gray root dye went
Baekga mixed the root dye to blend naturally with my existing hair color. It had been a while, so the designer carefully applied it even to the underlayers, and I blurted out a silly question.

I hadn't even done root dye in ages, so when the designer put dye on my underlayers I asked, why are you putting it there...? Haha. Like, are roots only on top?? Haha, what am I, Gollum? Asking a dumb question made me look even dumber...

Atmosphere and drinks during the treatment
While the dye set, Hair Studio Baekga brought out drinks and snacks. The designer only spoke about my hair's condition and what I needed to know, which suited someone who wants to rest quietly.
At some point salons became like cafés, which is great for the customer! Also, I get drained easily and I'm not the type to chat with my designer (I do answer when spoken to). Maybe out of consideration for that, the designer only told me about my hair and what I needed to know, so I slept soundly through the whole thing, haha.

Layered cut finish and the side bang order
After the root dye, the cut was finished with a layered cut, and the overly long side hair was cut into side bangs that fall loosely. My order was vague, but the designer understood it perfectly.
"So that when I tuck it behind my ear, it goes back but not all the way back" haha

Result of the root dye and mid-length layered cut
Once my hair was dried, the grays had vanished and I had a calm, neat mid-length cut that suits my thirties. It's not hot worn down, and it ties back without trouble.
Once it was dried, a total style transformation! The root dye was mixed to blend naturally with my existing color, and as expected I was happy with the result. As for changing the style, all I did was the cut, but I love it. The grays are gone, the style is calm and neat, just right for my thirties, and the length is comfortable worn down in hot weather yet still ties up with no trouble.

How was the thinning for thick hair?
Baekga's thinning was light without making the hair too wispy, so there's no special styling skill needed, just dry it well. The lighter volume felt best of all.
Thinning technique differs from stylist to stylist, but the designer at Baekga in Dangsan had already pinpointed exactly what I was worried about, which was reassuring. The thinning was light without being too flyaway.

Looks like I took this in a middle-aged-auntie pose? Let me see... it's exactly an older person holding the phone with their head pulled back because of farsightedness, haha. I'm attaching it because I like the hairstyle.

Why mid-length instead of a bob
I was reminded that a mid-length cut suits a round, angular face better than a bob that puts the jawline on display. I'd held out to keep my hair long as long as possible, but I'm happy with the result.
This time a demure lady concept, haha. I was reminded again that mid-length suits me better than long hair. A bob emphasizes the jawline, so I think it suits a small, egg-shaped face better than a round, angular one like mine.

I'd held out because I wanted to keep my hair long for as long as possible before getting older, but setting aside how hot and heavy it was because of the thickness, I'm happy with the change of style now that I've gone mid-length.

Back home I looked in the bathroom lighting and liked it even more, so I took more photos, haha. Full yet light from the thinning, and I'm thrilled. Plus I was oddly sad about losing length, but it suits me so I'm thrilled, a double combo, haha.

Who should visit Hair Studio Baekga near Dangsan Station?
I recommend Hair Studio Baekga near Dangsan Station in Yeongdeungpo to anyone who wants a change with just root dye and a cut, no perm. The overall look is neat, and the layered cut keeps the ends light and bouncy.
Thinning done too roughly(?) can look messy, so thanks to the designer at Baekga near Dangsan Station for carefully handling even the details. If you want a change from just a light root dye or a cut rather than a perm, I recommend visiting Baekga in Yeongdeungpo :)
