Daegu brunch café worth a 2.5-hour walk: shrimp rémoulade at Dento
In short
Dento is a newly opened brunch café in Banwoldang, Jung-gu, Daegu, tucked into an alley on Bongsanmunhwa 2-gil. The writer walked two and a half hours from home to Dento, ordered the five bite-size open sandwiches and a café latte, and ate them in plating order from pan con tomate to truffle ricotta. Dento's shrimp rémoulade brought back a taste for shrimp the writer had lost for years after pregnancy, making the bite-size open sandwiches a must-order.

I visited Dento, a brand-new brunch café in Banwoldang, Daegu. It sits tucked into a corner of an alley that Millennials and Gen Z would love, and I liked both the food and the mood, so let me tell you all about it :)

What are Dento's exterior and interior like?
Dento is a brunch café near Banwoldang Station with a European-style, vintage-looking exterior and an interior in toned-down colors. It looks European, a little vintage, and just pretty. The atmosphere is full of charm and feels relaxing, which won me over even more.

This is the inside of Dento, the new café in Banwoldang. The color combination is striking and the interior is really pretty. It's toned down, feels European and a bit resort-like too, and the mood was just great.

I loved the vintage-style flooring too. The lighting has real taste and everything felt harmonious. The plants are so pretty, haha.

Long central table and self-serve zone
A long table takes up the wide space in the middle of Dento, and it made the place feel even better. Small plates, cutlery and more are set up in self-serve zones on both sides, so you can sit anywhere comfortably! Such a thoughtful setup~

There's a vase, there's lighting, and the small plates, wet wipes and cutlery are set out so prettily, can you believe it~ It felt like arriving at a party, and the arrangement made me happy just looking at it, haha. Thoughtful touches everywhere in this new Banwoldang brunch café~!

What's on Dento's menu?
The bite-size open sandwiches are Dento's signature menu. There was also a good variety of made-to-order sandwiches, such as a jambon sandwich, triple cheese sandwich, omelette ham cheese sandwich and grilled shrimp rapé sandwich. For dessert there's a classic French sandwich too, and coffee and tea are available.

What I ordered after walking two and a half hours to Dento
Since it was my first time at Dento, I ordered the five bite-size open sandwiches and a café latte. I had walked two and a half hours from home to Banwoldang as exercise, so everything looked even more appetizing. It felt like a reward for myself, and the looks alone had me super excited! The café latte looked yummy too, haha.

Dento café latte
Dento's café latte was very smooth with a rich coffee flavor, and it went well with brunch. I'm the person who only orders a café latte whenever I go to a café, and it paired nicely with brunch too.

The tea coaster with a tomato drawing is so cute, haha. A lovely-mood new café in Dongseongno.

In what order do you eat Dento's five bite-size open sandwiches?
Dento's five bite-size open sandwiches are easy to pick up in one bite and look like something from a fancy restaurant. Getting to taste such a variety at this price is a real plus! It's hard to try many things when you come alone, so the five open sandwiches are a total charm point. The plate is fresh and green and pretty too.

First, pan con tomate
Dento recommends eating in the order they're plated. So I started with the pan con tomate (tomato on toasted bread)~! It's fresh, and the tomato and crispy bread go really well together.

Second, salmon avocado
The salmon avocado sandwich I tried second was charming too. Fresh salmon and rich avocado is a winning combo, isn't it~ Sure enough, from texture to taste it all blends together, a great combo~!

Third, romesco roasted vegetables
The romesco roasted vegetable sandwich I had third was attractive too. The tomato sauce wraps the grilled eggplant and button mushrooms so nicely, so good!

Fourth, shrimp rémoulade brings my appetite back
Next is the shrimp rémoulade, and it's so delicious~~~!!!!! The springy shrimp and crunchy celery come together, and it was a crazy flavor that pulled my lost taste for shrimp right back up since pregnancy??? I'd lost my appetite for shrimp for several years, and this was the taste that forcibly summoned my runaway appetite home.

Last, truffle ricotta
The truffle ricotta did a great job as the finishing touch. It has a strong, precious truffle aroma that blends well with the creamy ricotta, and the savory depth was amazing.
Are Dento's bite-size open sandwiches worth ordering?
Trying Dento's five sandwiches one by one, the varied flavors delighted both my eyes and mouth. The open sandwiches that bring back a runaway appetite are a definite must-order. That was my visit to Dento, a brunch spot in Banwoldang, Daegu, where I had a happy time :)
