Bacon French toast with garlic at Otter Rabbit House, Daegu café
In short
Otter Rabbit House Jongno Branch is a new antique-style brunch café in Jung-gu, Daegu, right next to the Megabox back entrance at Manggyeongwan. The blogger ordered an Americano, an iced choco latte and bacon French toast — the toast took a while to come out, but the meaty bacon, salty cheese and a topping of garlic to cut the richness made for a flavor unlike any French toast tried before. With 22 seats total, it's best to arrive early during peak hours.

A new café 300m from Jungangno Station Exit 4, next to the Megabox back entrance
I heard a new café had opened up, so I went to check it out. Otter Rabbit House Jongno Branch, located just 300m from Exit 4 of Jungangno Station, right next to the back entrance of Manggyeongwan Megabox! If you're looking for a café in Jongno, this is a must-visit. Here's my honest review.

Otter Rabbit House Jongno Branch, famous as a brunch café spot in Jongno, Daegu! Even from the outside, you can feel that fresh new-café vibe. I'd read reviews saying seats can run out during peak hours, so I was on edge — I managed to snag one of the last seats available.

They also sell cherry bingsu (shaved ice dessert). I think it's nice when a café sells bingsu too, since it gives you more menu variety when going with multiple people. I wanted to try the cherry bingsu too, but I'll pass for today~~

Check the menu on the outdoor board before you go in
You can check the menu outside before entering. Being a brunch café, the menu was quite varied. I'd recommend looking at the menu before you go in — you can see photos on the kiosk, but it's inconvenient since you have to check them on the monitor, so look at the outdoor menu board if you want a bigger view.

With high expectations, let's head in~~ There's even a mirror right at the entrance haha! Nice touch from the owner!!!

Antique interior, 22 seats total
The inside has an antique atmosphere. From what I remember, there were 9 two-person tables (18 seats) plus 4 dodge seats, for 22 total. You can push two-person tables together to seat 4!

Grab a seat before ordering at the kiosk
Before ordering at the kiosk, make sure to grab a seat first and note your table number, then order~ The kiosk has you select your table number as part of the order.

Coffee prices and brunch menu
- Americano ₩3,800
- Café latte ₩4,300
- Vanilla, café mocha, choco ₩4,800
- Matcha ₩5,300
Considering how much café prices have gone up these days, I think this is on the affordable side.

I think it's a huge plus that you can also enjoy a variety of brunch dishes — striploin steak, lasagna, pizza, pasta, and more~~

This is the paper menu inside! You can check it in front of the counter. There are also teas, signature drinks, ades and more, so take a look.

A seat-grabbing competition during peak hours
There were seats left outside, so I sat down right away. The place was packed except for two seats. If I'd been any later, I might have had to wait... It was originally a 4-person table, but the owner spaced out two seats for us so we could sit.

With coffee, lattes, pasta, pizza, salads and more, I think this would be a great date spot. They also sell wine, so it seems good for setting a mood too. Being a new café, everything was well maintained.

Come late and there won't be a seat left!!

There's a restroom inside too
It's on the right when you're facing the counter. The restroom was clean too~ I've seen a lot of cafés lately without an indoor restroom, so I think this is a big plus.

Bacon French toast, topped with garlic of all things
I ordered an Americano, a chocolate drink, and French toast. Since the toast needed the bacon grilled and the cheese melted, it took quite a while to arrive after ordering. You should expect to wait longer than you'd think!

Worth the wait. This was French toast unlike anything I've had in my life. It's not just eggy toast dusted with sugar — the meaty flavor of the bacon, the sauce, the sweetness of the bread and the saltiness of the cheese all come together, and it's just so good. There's garlic on top too, which cuts the richness. Set some aside from the start and eat it alongside the rest.

The Americano was a bit on the weak side, and the iced choco latte has a lot of chocolate settled at the bottom, so if you like things sweet, I'd recommend stirring it all together.

All-time best French toast...
Who should visit
I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a new café in Jongno, or a café with a good atmosphere. If you want to experience a different side of French toast in particular, you have to visit and try the bacon French toast. No regrets. Next time I come, I'm skipping the iced choco latte and trying the castella latte choco instead!
