Eunpyeong ramen shop: new cheddar tsukune in place of chashu, Oreno
In short
Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong is a ramen shop on Bulgwangcheon-gil near Saejeol Station in Eunpyeong, Seoul. On a Saturday lunch with no wait, a regular couple ordered karai paitan (spicy paitan ramen) and the new assorted tsukune (meatball skewers), and the cheddar-topped tsukune skewer made up for chashu no longer being on the menu. Verdict: pair the spicy karai paitan with one side dish like the assorted tsukune.

Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong: why a regular couple keeps coming back
Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong is one of our favorite ramen shops in Eunpyeong. I'm so happy to have an Oreno Ramen in our neighborhood.. Whenever we crave a rich, red broth that isn't too over-the-top, we always seem to end up at Oreno Ramen by Bulgwangcheon.

Parking and waiting at Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong
There's parking for about 2 cars right next to the shop, and we've been lucky enough to find a spot every single time. We visited at Saturday lunchtime, and even though Oreno Ramen is a Eunpyeong favorite that normally means a wait, we got in right away this day haha

Karai paitan, if you like it spicy
What we ordered at Oreno Ramen this day was, of course, the red-broth karai paitan (spicy chicken broth ramen) lol I'd love to try the creamy white tori paitan too, but I just can't give up the karai paitan.. If you like spicy food, definitely pick the karai paitan!

Chashu is gone, but there's a new menu item: assorted tsukune
One disappointing thing about Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong is that the chashu (braised pork slices) is gone. We both love chashu so much, sob T_T I hope it comes back.. But there was a new menu item called assorted tsukune!

The menu didn't explain what assorted tsukune is, so I looked it up: tsukune is a Japanese-style chicken meatball skewer, made by kneading minced chicken, putting it on a skewer and grilling it over charcoal. Just so you know!

Karai paitan is best with noodles and broth together
Our karai paitan from Oreno Ramen finally arrived. It's not just us who taste the broth first the moment it comes out, right?

Before the noodles, we tasted the karai paitan broth first to get a feel for the overall flavor. How well the noodle texture goes with it matters too, and eating the noodles with the broth adds a distinctive depth in your mouth that makes it even tastier.

I especially think the harmony comes through more when you eat noodles and broth together rather than separately. If you usually like spicy food, I think karai paitan is worth trying at least once haha

No matter how good a broth is, it's a letdown if it doesn't go with the noodles, right? Oreno Ramen by Bulgwangcheon is my go-back-again place, so there's no letdown and I don't think it has ever failed us. It suits a quick hot meal or a proper sit-down meal, and I think it's good for a hangover too, so I'd recommend it as a Eunpyeong favorite.

What's the assorted tsukune like, and what comes in it?
We'd been looking forward to the new assorted tsukune, and since ramen noodles alone felt a little lacking, we ordered it together with the karai paitan.

When a new menu item comes out, I get curious how it's put together and how it differs from the existing menu, so I end up trying it every time.

The assorted tsukune came as two skewers with different sauces, three pieces on each skewer. They were big, so my husband and I shared one each! They were piping hot and mild in flavor. Personally I liked both, but the tsukune with cheddar cheese topping suited me better. I think kids would like it too, so I'd recommend it.

Going as a pair? Add one side dish to your ramen
Rather than eating just one kind of dish, I think enjoying different dishes together changes the taste in your mouth, which is nice. Ordering like this at Oreno Ramen lets you taste each other's food and enjoy a wider variety, which we loved! This time too, ordering karai paitan and assorted tsukune together gave us another way to enjoy the meal.

If you're going to Oreno Ramen by Bulgwangcheon as a pair and can't decide what to order, picking one side dish to go with your main ramen is a good approach.

If you love ramen, even the time spent deciding what to eat is part of the fun, and if you're looking for a ramen shop in Eunpyeong, I'd recommend Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong. I hope this visit review is a little bit of help :)
