Gwanak restaurant lunch with kids: Kosi pork cutlet and udon
In short
Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch is a Japanese restaurant in Gwanak, Seoul, serving thick pork cutlet, katsudon, and udon. We had a spicy katsudon set, kake udon, and pork cutlet for a weekend lunch with our child; the portions were generous, and our child especially enjoyed the udon. Verdict: a filling family-friendly meal despite possible weekend waits.

While looking for somewhere to eat near Seoul National University Entrance Station, we visited Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch (코시 서울대입구점), where the thick donkatsu (Japanese breaded pork cutlet) and udon looked so good. It was easy to choose dishes to share with our child, who loves pork cutlet, and the generous portions made for such a satisfying meal :)

Weekend lunch wait
Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch

We arrived just before 2 p.m. on a weekend, and there were already people waiting.

When it was our turn to go in, the interior was nearly full too. You could really tell that lots of people come here looking for good pork cutlet in Sharosugil. Even if you are arriving just before break time on a weekend, I recommend allowing a little extra time.
Ordering the katsudon set and kake udon
Let me show you the menu.

This is what we ordered.
- Spicy katsudon (pork cutlet rice bowl) set ₩14,500
- Kake udon (udon in hot broth) ₩9,000
- Pork cutlet à la carte ₩11,500

Salad dressing and pepper sauce were set out on the table, and everything arrived looking neat and appetizing. First up was the katsudon set I chose! It looked so plentiful that it immediately made my mouth water.

I am quite a fan of katsudon, and the pork cutlet on top was seriously thick.

I loved the combination of sweet-and-savory rice and egg with meat that still had a lovely chew. I ordered it spicy, but it was not overpowering; it was just enough to cut through the richness, so I enjoyed it.

Thick, juicy pork cutlet
The pork cutlet my husband ordered looked impressively thick at a glance too.

It was crisp outside and juicy inside, so every piece felt satisfyingly substantial. The broth served alongside was clean-tasting too, making it nice with the pork cutlet. The portion is generous enough that I think even people with a big appetite would be happy. We eat well too, but we were so full that day, haha. If you go with a child who loves pork cutlet, ordering the à la carte version to share also seems like a good idea.
Kake udon that our child enjoyed even more
Our child enjoyed the kake udon even more than the pork cutlet that day.

The broth was piping hot, and the noodles were a little thicker than ordinary udon. There was enough that just a few bites felt filling.

It also came with one inari sushi (seasoned rice in a fried tofu pouch), so it was a nice option for a child too.

When eating out with a child, it matters whether there is something they can eat. Having both pork cutlet and udon on the menu made this an easy place for a family visit.
A filling Sharosugil lunch with a child
Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch is a Sharosugil restaurant I would recommend to anyone who loves thick pork cutlet or is looking for a generous katsudon. The varied menu makes it nice for a group to order according to everyone’s taste, and the atmosphere also felt comfortable for dining alone or for a date. There may be a wait on weekends, but it has parking and pork cutlet and udon that are easy to enjoy with a child, so we were happy with it as a family meal too.
