In short

How much is the Seongsan braised hairtail set, and what comes with it?
At Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon Seongsan Ilchulbong Branch (제주로운청해원 성산일출봉점), I ordered the A set, which centers on braised hairtail and includes several dishes. At the time of my visit, it was ₩24,000 per person and included braised hairtail, grilled tilefish, soy-marinated crab, seafood stew, and sticky pot rice. I was pleased with the value because I could eat several menu items as one spread.

There were also sets that included braised mackerel with kimchi or spicy stir-fried black pork. A notice posted on the wall said the restaurant uses 100% wild-caught Jeju hairtail, which I also liked.

Where is it, and what were parking and group seating like?
The restaurant is at 101 Sinyang-ro, Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo, near the entrance to Seopjikoji. Its pale yellow exterior was easy to spot from the road, and I parked on the road in front of the restaurant at the time of my visit.

Inside, the large dining hall had many tables for four. It looked large enough for tour groups to dine together.

What were the side dishes and soy-marinated crab like?
Six basic side dishes arrived after I ordered. One yellow dish that looked like canned peach was steamed pumpkin, cooked to retain a slightly crisp texture.

The soy-marinated crab was said to be made with Jeju yellow crab. Its shell was soft and it had plenty of meat, and I was satisfied because it did not taste fishy.

How much food came in the A set for two?
The braised hairtail arrived in a large ttukbaegi (earthenware pot). For two servings, it contained about five or six pieces of hairtail, which felt like a generous amount.

The sticky pot rice came in a stainless-steel pot. The grains were plump and springy, so it was tasty even on its own without side dishes.

Two fried-style grilled tilefish were included.

The seafood stew contained generous amounts of four kinds of seafood and vegetables. I was impressed by how full the ttukbaegi was.

What were the hairtail flesh and seasoning like?
I removed the white hairtail flesh and ate it over plain rice, where its clean flavor came through well. Compared with imported hairtail I have eaten, the fish was smaller, but I thought its characteristic flavor was better.

The seasoning was mildly spicy. My companion mixed it into rice, while I especially enjoyed the tender radish that had absorbed the seasoning all the way through.

Were the seafood stew and grilled tilefish satisfying too?
The seafood stew contained shrimp, crab, clams, and mussels. Its rich doenjang (fermented soybean paste) broth had a seafood aroma, and it did not taste fishy to me.

The grilled tilefish was also clean-tasting and not fishy. I thought it would be fine to eat with children, and I liked pairing a piece of it with nurungji (toasted rice crust) from the sticky pot rice.

What kind of meal would I recommend it for?
I would recommend it if you are looking for a place for a family or group meal after visiting Seongsan Ilchulbong or Seopjikoji. At the time of my visit, ₩24,000 per person let me try everything from braised hairtail to grilled tilefish and seafood stew, and the spread was generous. It suited me well because I wanted to eat Jeju hairtail alongside several other dishes.
