Cheongna hair salon odorless root dye, straight back to work: Goeum

I tied my hair up all summer, and before I knew it, it had grown this long. Now the weather is cooler and I should wear it down, but looking at how scraggly it had gotten, all I wanted was a clean cut. So today I went to Goeum Hair Salon (고움헤어살롱), a hair salon in Cheongna, for a root dye and a layered cut^^

Where is Goeum Hair Salon, and is there parking?

Goeum Hair Salon is on the 2nd floor (Unit 218) of Building A in the Cheongna Exlu Tower shopping arcade, Cheongna 1-dong, Complex 1. Parking is covered for 3 hours in the building's commercial parking lot.

Take the stairs up to the 2nd floor, look right, and there it is: a spacious, tidy shop.

Inside Goeum Hair Salon

The inside of Goeum Hair Salon is very roomy and comfortable. There are big windows front and back, so the view is great, and the green trees outside the window were so lush^^

For kids, there are cute car-shaped seats so they can focus on getting their hair done^^

There was plenty of waiting space, and the chairs are so lovely too.

The shampoo area has two chairs, and the owner's sense of style is something else, isn't it? He's growing such pretty trees^^

The discount rate on the Goeum membership differs by voucher amount. The prices here are already reasonable, so with a membership it's genuinely great value.

The famous Ayunchae clinic products were on display, which made me think the owner is serious about his products.

My hair before the root dye and cut

I was going to do the root dye first at Goeum Hair Salon, so while the dye was being mixed, here's a quick check of my current style!

I started growing it out from a short cut, and look how long it's gotten. I didn't mean to grow it; I just almost never go to the salon, so it happened by itself^^

As hair gets longer, the color fades a lot and the texture gets damaged and dry.

And my roots, only two weeks of growth, are such a mix of black and white hairs. Messy beyond words.

Drinks and the owner's homemade pound cake at Goeum Hair Salon

Huh? Goeum Café? At Goeum Hair Salon you can choose a drink too: a variety of loose-leaf teas, coffee, even iced tea. Is this a café^^

This is a homemade pound cake the owner baked himself,

and it's really moist and delicious. It's packed with nuts and loaded with good butter, so it was sooo good!!! A much classier taste than an expensive bakery café!! I want more...

How did the root dye go at Goeum Hair Salon?

The root dye went like this: dye applied carefully only to the roots, 30 minutes of natural processing, then shampoo. Okay~~ the dyeing begins now! The owner doesn't talk much, but if you ask him something he explains it in a calm, quiet voice, so don't be shy about speaking up^^

Since it was only a root dye, he applied it to the roots very, very delicately and thoroughly.

Shampoo and scalp massage

I was moved to the shampoo area, where he washed my hair gently and carefully at just the right water temperature. The scent was so lovely that I relaxed completely and found myself smiling^^

The owner is a man, but his hands are so delicate, and he controlled the pressure of the scalp massage really well. Soft and gentle, yet refreshing. My stiff neck and the back of my head felt completely better.

Layered cut result: does it look natural without blow-drying?

After the shampoo, I got the layered cut at Goeum Hair Salon. He dried it lightly, put a little essence on, and done!!

Even without any special blow-drying it looks very natural, and the texture is much better. That sticking-out bit is my natural curl; he didn't blow-dry it out and just left it as it is.

The dye at Goeum Hair Salon came out in a very even color with a glossy shine~~ You won't find any irritation or smell even if you look hard; they use really good products for dyeing.

Men's cut + down perm: 3 sessions for 100,000 won

Goeum Hair Salon does men's cuts and down perms together, and 3 sessions for ₩100,000 is really good news for men, isn't it? A men's cut these days usually costs ₩30,000, but here the skill is great and the price is genuinely reasonable. I'm sharing this with my son right away^^

Can you go straight to work after a root dye?

After the dye and layered cut at Goeum Hair Salon, I walked straight into the office, and there was no smell at all, so nobody noticed. There was so little irritation that even I wondered whether I'd really had it done, so off to work I went!!

This is the style from the front. I kept the bangs at their original length and only trimmed them slightly, and he did them nicely just as I asked^^ It's not a big change, but my hair feels much lighter and my mood is up too^^
