That salty, craveable flavor that keeps pulling you back even in the sweltering summer heat — heaping spoonfuls of ham and sausage!

Right by Misa Station Exit 5: Masisso Budae Jjigae Misa Station Direct Store

A stew I crave on a regular basis — that salty, piping hot flavor pairs perfectly with plain white rice. I visited Masisso Budae Jjigae Misa Station Direct Store, which I liked even more for being perfect for a Misa date, right next to the station, open year-round, and easy to take out.

The place is open with no break time. This salty stew, loaded with hot canned ham, sausage, and dumplings and simmered until bubbling, is honestly enough to melt away the whole nation's stress. There were plenty of add-ins too, like cheese and rice cakes. Everything was so generous and well-seasoned overall that mixing in rice or adding ramen noodles brought back an appetite I didn't even know I'd lost.

Why takeout soup is so convenient in summer

The heat right now is no joke. Grocery shopping, washing and prepping ingredients at home, chopping, turning on the induction stove, and cooking up a soup dish yourself is far from easy. That's when having a neatly packaged takeout meal you just heat up a little at home becomes so incredibly convenient.

The vibe inside and the bar table with built-in burners

The interior was decorated with the feel of a small Japanese-style eatery. Every seat has its own built-in burner for placing a pot and letting it simmer, so it's a place where eating alone feels totally comfortable too. The space itself isn't huge, but with the bar-style layout, it had a cozy, warm feel in many ways.

The location itself is great, right by the station, so nearby office workers and shop employees seemed to come here comfortably for meals too. Having no break time is a real plus — you can drop in whenever you're hungry and get a hearty meal for around ₩10,000, so it's no wonder the place is popular by selling a lot at low margins.

Masisso Budae Jjigae's menu and prices

The basic army stew was around ₩10,000. Versions with beef belly or soft tofu were also very popular for being hearty and savory. After going back and forth, I couldn't resist the beef belly and ordered it right away. There were also plenty of add-on toppings available, like tofu, baked beans, and dumplings.

Beef belly army stew, 2 servings + glass noodles, tofu, and dumplings added — ₩25,000

I quickly picked up the beef belly army stew for two with glass noodles, tofu, and dumplings added (₩25,000). The portion was so generous that my hands felt heavy the whole way home. The broth looked clean, and they packed it so generously that it was bound to be filling — you could really feel the owner's generosity. It's a franchise, but word has it that the quality is quite high compared to other brands in this category.

That's a massive portion, right? For a Misa date spot, it had a warm, cozy vibe perfect for two people to enjoy while blowing on their spoonfuls of soup together. It's sweltering summer right now, but I thought there's no better place for this when you're craving a soup dish in spring, fall, or winter.

Above all, restaurants where you can actually eat a meal for ₩10,000 really aren't common anymore. In terms of value for money, this place felt like a true oasis for anyone struggling with tight budgets these days.

How the beef belly army stew tasted cooked at home

I brought home a huge portion of army stew and quickly cooked it up. The broth was soft and clean-tasting, and I liked it even more because it wasn't too spicy.

You can add more onion or enoki mushrooms to taste, if that's your thing. For my next Misa date, I'm already thinking about coming back with a friend to have a cozy meal for two.

Of course, they're happy to do takeout or delivery too, so feel free to enjoy it however works best for you.
