Men's haircut and side down perm in Gangnam: Divers Barbershop
In short
Divers Barbershop Gangnam-gu Office Station Branch is a barbershop in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul, connected underground to Exit 2 of Gangnam-gu Office Station. My boyfriend was concerned about areas where his hair looked clumped together. This time, we visited Divers Barbershop Gangnam-gu Office Station Branch (다이버스 바버샵 강남구청역점) in Nonhyeon-dong for a haircut and side down perm. I watched the service from beside him.

How did we get there from Gangnam-gu Office Station?
We made a reservation through Naver before visiting. The shop is at B1, Unit 107, SK Hub Blue, 342 Hakdong-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The hours listed in the original post are 11 AM to 9 PM daily.
It was directly connected underground from the Exit 2 side of Gangnam-gu Office Station, without needing to go outside. It was raining that day, so it was easy to get there.
Is there a place for a companion to wait?
The interior had a vintage feel. There were waiting chairs, so I could sit comfortably while my boyfriend had his hair done.
There was also a place to put clothes. I thought it would be useful for hanging outerwear such as a coat in winter.
How did they cut hair that looked clumped together?
After a consultation at the chair, we decided on a haircut and down perm. He asked to keep the length while making it easy to style, and to press down the sides so they would not stick up. I also liked that one person handled the service throughout.
First, they used clippers to even out the overall length and shape the back hairline. When he mentioned the areas that usually looked clumped together, they focused closely on those parts.
Next, they refined the overall texture with scissors. They alternated between clippers, scissors, and a razor, so I asked why. They explained that they changed tools to create texture and gradation.
Where was the down perm applied, and how long did it take?
After the first cut, they proceeded with the down perm. There were options for the full head or selected areas, and my boyfriend had only the sides done.
After waiting about 10 minutes, he had his hair shampooed.
After the shampoo, they dried his hair thoroughly and continued the haircut. I thought it would be the finishing stage after the perm, but they kept refining the details with scissors and a razor.
Finally, they cleaned up the back hairline once more with clippers. The haircut and down perm took about 1 hour and 10 minutes in total during this visit.
How did the length-preserving haircut and down perm turn out?
They finished by applying wax and explaining how to style it. I liked that it was done as requested: it kept the length, was easy to style, and held the sides down.
The back hairline in particular looked cleaner. The volume and texture blended naturally, tidying the parts that had looked uneven, and the permed sides stayed close to the head rather than sticking up. I liked how carefully they addressed the concerns from the consultation in a quiet atmosphere.
