Seocho eyebrow grooming and semi-arch lesson: Minjei Makeup

In short

Minjei Makeup Eyebrow Grooming, Gangnam Seocho Branch is an eyebrow grooming studio near Gangnam Station in Seocho, Seoul. I received brow shaping, an asymmetry consultation, and a brow makeup lesson in about an hour; the semi-arch shape suited my face, though old cosmetic-tattoo marks limited the asymmetry correction.

How do I get there from Gangnam Station, and do I need a reservation?

I received an eyebrow consultation at Minjei Makeup Eyebrow Grooming, Gangnam Seocho Branch (민제이메이크업 눈썹정리 강남서초점) because I was concerned about uneven brows and reddish marks from an old eyebrow tattoo. The hours listed in the original post were Tue–Thu 10:00–19:30 and Fri–Sun 10:00–21:00, with regular closure on Mondays. For reservation inquiries outside business hours, Naver TalkTalk was listed.

The studio is on the first basement floor of Acrotel near Gangnam Station. The address is B1, Unit 107, 34 Hyoryeong-ro 77-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul.

I visited by public transit. It was close to Gangnam Station and easy to find. Visitors arriving by car were advised that they could use Acrotel parking for 70 minutes.

It operates by one-on-one reservation, so you need to book before visiting. There was also a space where I could wait when I arrived early, and my consultation started right at my appointment time.

This is where I received my eyebrow consultation.

Refreshments were also prepared.

What consultation did I receive, and how long did it take?

I added brow makeup and brief teaching to brow design, which is eyebrow grooming, and also received a detailed consultation about pronounced asymmetry. The whole process took about an hour.

First, I looked at the condition of my eyebrows in the mirror with the staff member. I still had reddish marks from an eyebrow tattoo I got in my early twenties, and my developed brow muscles also made the asymmetry fairly pronounced.

I was told that, for an accurate shape, it is best to let the brows grow untouched for about a month before visiting. I could not stand the untidy look, so I groomed them partway through.

How were my eyebrows shaped for my face?

My brows were groomed using only a razor and scissors. When I had waxing before, it felt as though my eyelids were being stretched, but this time I liked how the shape was refined in detail with a razor and scissors.

Because I have prominent cheekbones and a brow arch, they shaped my brows into a semi-arch rather than a straight line. Instead of applying a trendy shape as-is, they explained the shape based on my face and brows, which made it easy to understand.

Even grooming alone made them look much neater. Still, I was disappointed that the asymmetry could not be fully corrected because of the existing semi-permanent makeup marks. After the grooming, I held a hand mirror and learned how to draw my eyebrows.

Can I also learn how to draw my eyebrows at home?

We used three products: a brow pencil, brow brush, and brow mascara. I received a careful explanation of how to use each one to draw my eyebrows.

They said it would be useful to keep a record of the shade numbers of the products used that day, so they photographed them for me. After the consultation, I went to buy products so I could try drawing my brows myself.

What did I like most about the consultation?

Beyond grooming my eyebrows to suit my face, I liked that they explained my brow shape and taught me how to do the makeup. I was left wanting more from the asymmetry correction because of the old marks, but I learned how to draw them at home. Watching my eyebrows change made the hour pass quickly.

At the end, they also gave me an eyebrow razor and a spoolie brush.
