Geobukseom clam pot date: staff-cut octopus and pen shell, Bada Super
In short
Bada Super Haemul Cheonha Jogaegui, Geobukseom Oido Branch is an ocean-view restaurant specializing in grilled and steamed clams, on the 3rd floor of a building on Geobukseom-ro in Siheung, Gyeonggi. On a weekday afternoon we ordered the broth clam pot (gukmul jogaejjim). Staff cut the octopus and prepped the clams so we could eat easily, and we followed with cheese, kalguksu noodles and complimentary sweet-and-salty tteokbokki. With an open sea view and a generous seafood spread, Bada Super was a satisfying choice for a date or a family get-together.

Summer means the sea, right? I wanted to see some cool ocean, so I headed to Oido and Geobukseom. Both are popular drive and date spots, so there are quite a few good restaurants. I ate steamed clams at Bada Super Haemul Cheonha Jogaegui, Geobukseom Oido Branch (바다수퍼해물천하조개구이 거북섬오이도점), a grilled and steamed clam place with an all-time-best open ocean view. The clam pot was more generous than I expected, the sweet-and-salty tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) kept me reaching for more, and I finished with the must-have kalguksu (knife-cut noodle) add-on. Totally satisfying meal!

Geobukseom Bada Super Haemul Cheonha grilled and steamed clams

I read plenty of reviews before going, and people said the clam pot is delicious, with a deep, rich broth and a variety of seafood. Plus I wanted the kalguksu add-on 😋
What's the ocean-view atmosphere like in Geobukseom?
Outside the restaurant

Bada Super Haemul Cheonha Jogaegui, Geobukseom Oido Branch is a tidy restaurant on the 3rd floor of a building.
Inside and the sea view

It's a spacious room where the open sea fills your view. The moment I walked in, I let out a "Woooah!" before I even realized it.

I knew it was an ocean-view place, but in person it was even better than I expected. It's wide open toward the water, and even on a quiet weekday afternoon there were quite a few couples on dates. With the sea right there, it felt romantic.
How big is the Geobukseom broth clam pot, and what's in it?

The broth clam pot filled the table's wide burner to the brim, and the portion was much bigger than I'd expected.

Scallops, pen shell, several other kinds of clams, octopus, shrimp and more were piled in, and it looked delicious just sitting there.
Staff cut the octopus and shell the clams for you
I loved that they prep everything for you at Bada Super. When it was cooked just right, a staff member cut up the plump octopus and took the clams out of their shells, so I could just focus on eating.

I started picking through the seafood one piece at a time, and the plump octopus and all the clam meat were chewy and really good. The broth was deep from the vegetables and seafood, and none of the ingredients had any fishy smell! This is the kind of flavor that calls for a drink 🍻

Cheese on the side
The clam pot comes with stretchy cheese on the side. I melted it and ate it with the clams, and the pairing worked well.

Finishing with kalguksu and free tteokbokki
I finished by putting a kalguksu add-on into the clam pot broth. No matter how full you are, you have to add noodles to seafood broth, right? I picked the clam meat out and set it to one side, then dropped the noodles into the broth. Carbs are the best! After not stopping at the clams and eating the noodles too, it felt like a proper finished meal.

The cheesy tteokbokki we got as a free side was a sweet-and-salty combo too, so I kept eating it. Carbs are the best, part 2!
