In short

It was the last day of our Pohang trip. Since we'd come all the way to Pohang, I felt we had to eat snow crab before leaving. After searching around, we went to Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang (갈릴리대게회식당), inside the Jukdo Market hoe town.

Jukdo Market hoe town: will touts be a hassle?

Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang is inside the Jukdo Market hoe town, but we walked in and ate comfortably without any pressure from touts. When people hear Jukdo Market, a lot of them worry about pushy touting, right?

I was a little nervous too, but it wasn't bothersome at all, and being able to walk in and eat comfortably made for a good first impression.

It starts with abalone porridge

The moment we sat down at Gallilli, the first thing to arrive was abalone porridge. It worked like an appetizer, soft and nutty, just right on an empty stomach. We started the meal in a good mood before the real food even came out.

The ₩130,000 course for 2: what was in it?

Dishes of the Gallilli course

We ordered the Gallilli course for 2 (₩130,000), and even though it was a single course, the table was packed. Honestly, I thought only crab would come out, but the food just kept coming.

Basic Gallilli spread with mulhoe and soy-marinated crab

The basic spread was really generous, with mulhoe, hoemuchim, soy-marinated crab, corn cheese, sweet potato fries and more,

and fresh seafood like abalone, sea squirt and shrimp came out alongside.

Four kinds of assorted sashimi served with gwamegi

The assorted sashimi came in about 4 kinds, and gwamegi (semi-dried Pohang fish, traditionally eaten wrapped in seaweed) came too, so it felt like a proper Pohang table.

Eating through it piece by piece, I was already satisfied before the main dish even showed up.

Crab yield and the prep service

The snow crab, the main of the Gallilli course, had a really good yield. The crab we'd been waiting for 🦀 was so full of meat that you could tell from a single bite.

Best of all, the staff did all the prep for us so it was easy to eat.

There were no interruptions from cracking shells, so we could focus purely on the flavor of the crab. The salty-sweet crab meat kept pulling our chopsticks back.

Do add the crab-shell fried rice (₩2,000)

Crab-shell fried rice added for ₩2,000

At Gallilli, for ₩2,000 extra they make crab-shell fried rice with the leftover shells, and I really recommend it. After finishing the crab, you're left with the shells, right?

The rich crab innards blended into the rice, making it a perfect finish. I kept scraping the pan clean to the very end.

Staff service and the clear squid soup

Eating the Gallilli course

The Gallilli staff were also really kind. Even at a busy time, they kept checking whether we needed anything and explained each dish, so the whole meal felt pleasant.

The clear soup with squid, served instead of maeuntang (spicy fish stew), was cool and clean, a great way to wrap up after the crab.

Also, if you join the Naver review event you get seafood ramen too. It comes generously loaded, so I hope you try it.

If I eat crab in Pohang, I'd come back

I first visited Gallilli thinking only of crab, but I was really satisfied with everything, from the course lineup to the freshness of the seafood and the friendly staff.

The atmosphere inside the Jukdo Market hoe town wasn't overwhelming, so we ate comfortably. If you're planning a Pohang trip and looking for a Pohang crab restaurant for a hearty meal, I'd recommend Gallilli.

Overall

With course meals, sometimes only the main is good and the rest is a bit disappointing, right? But at Gallilli every single dish was satisfying, so instead of "when is the main coming?" it was "what's coming next?", and waiting was part of the fun. The two of us lost track of time and ate really well, and if I eat crab in Pohang again, I'd like to come back.
