Uirimji Reservoir was one of the stops on this Jecheon trip!! The walk around Uirimji was so nice, and Nangman Jjajang (낭만짜장), the Jecheon Uirimji restaurant where we had lunch, was seriously delicious 🧡

Nangman Jjajang is apparently a local favorite in Jecheon. I arrived trembling with anxiety after hearing there could be a wait, but luckily there was no wait!!!

Nangman Jjajang’s atmosphere and what we ordered
The dining room was spacious and clean! It was a little late by the time we had finished and were about to leave, but guests suddenly came flooding in and almost every table filled up. There were lots of tourists, but truly lots of locals too. So Nangman Jjajang, this Jecheon Uirimji restaurant, is a real local favorite that locals come to often too haha.

We ordered platter jjajang for ₩25,000 plus Jecheon tangsuyuk for ₩30,000. Reviews said lots of people order the cream tangsuyuk and that it is delicious, but I was craving something spicy, so we went with the Jecheon tangsuyuk.

Every menu item can be switched to rice noodles, which was so interesting that I wanted to try it too hahaha. The rice-noodle option would be great for people who do not like wheat flour or have trouble digesting it!!

There was a self-serve bar in the corner, and the cabbage pickles were so interesting hahaha.

Everything we ordered arrived!! What is this platter jjajang visual? The portion was huge, and the dark bean sauce looked so rich and delicious hahaha. The food came out quickly too, which I loved hahaha!
Platter jjajang with sweet potato sweetness
Platter jjajang

I usually only eat regular jjajangmyeon or gan-jjajang, so it had been a while since I ordered platter jjajang. Even though it is all jjajang, platter jjajang has its own flavor, right? Hahahaha. Nangman Jjajang, this Jecheon Uirimji restaurant, is also known for its platter jjajang, so I had high expectations hahaha.

The sauce was seriously thick as can be, clinging all over the noodles as they lifted up, so I could really taste that deep jjajang flavor—it was so good!!!! It was not a moist-style jjajangmyeon, but there was plenty of sauce, so it was not dry at all! Since the sauce was so delicious, I think it would be even more amazing with rice. Such tasty jjajangbap (rice topped with black bean sauce)!!! Even one platter jjajang was generously portioned, so it would be great to share with a group and more than enough for a filling meal!

There were lots of different seafood and vegetables in it too, and Nangman Jjajang’s platter jjajang is sweetened with sweet potato. What looked like potato in the black bean sauce was actually all sweet potato!!! It was my first time having sweet potato in jjajang sauce, and it was completely delicious hahaha.
Smoky, sweet-spicy Jecheon tangsuyuk
Jecheon tangsuyuk

The Jecheon tangsuyuk had a Sichuan tangsuyuk or kkanpunggi kind of feel!!! It had a strong smoky wok aroma, making it a different kind of tangsuyuk to enjoy.

For me, someone who cannot handle spice well, it felt just slightly spicy! The sauce was spicy but sweet, so I could enjoy it deliciously without it feeling overwhelming.

The tangsuyuk itself was glutinous-rice tangsuyuk, but it felt more crispy than chewy! It went really well with the spicy sauce hahaha. Have a bite of platter jjajang, then a piece of tangsuyuk, and the sweet-and-salty combo keeps you eating hahaha. Tangsuyuk really does taste better with jjajangmyeon!!

A lunch stop before or after a Uirimji walk
Having delicious Chinese food at Nangman Jjajang, a local Jecheon favorite, then grabbing a coffee to go nearby and walking around Uirimji Reservoir—the itinerary was insane hahahaha. The weather was so nice and the breeze was cool, so I was really satisfied with this route. Nangman Jjajang is a Jecheon Uirimji restaurant that lots of locals visit too. If you are looking for a good restaurant near Uirimji, I totally recommend Nangman Jjajang!!!
