Pork belly BBQ in Moran with a friend: icy naengmyeon, Mat Chandeul

Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui Moran Branch (맛찬들왕소금구이 모란점) is a 14-day aged pork restaurant near Moran Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. On a hot day the writer and a friend ordered 400g of pork belly and mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth); staff grilled the meat and recommended pairings such as grilled white kimchi, shredded chili sauce, wasabi and shredded green onion. Seocho eyebrow salon fixing a botched DIY brow trim: Minjei Makeup

Gangnam Station eyebrow wax fixing uneven DIY brows: Nu Waxing & Brow

Nu Waxing & Brow is a waxing and brow salon on the 2nd floor of Hyosung Harrington Tower The First, near Gangnam Station in Seoul. After self-trimmed brows kept ending up uneven, the writer booked a ₩25,000 eyebrow wax there; the owner recommended and designed a slightly rounded line, then calmed sensitive skin with an aloe sheet. The tail line still looked clean a week later, making Nu Waxing & Brow a solid Gangnam Station pick for anyone who struggles to shape their own brows.

Jamsil hair salon tassel cut bob for bleach-tangled hair: Only For You

Only For You Jamsilsaenae Branch is a hair salon on the 3rd floor of a building on Baekjegobun-ro 7-gil in Songpa, Seoul, near Saenae Station. After a consultation, the writer's long, frizzy, bleach-tangled hair was cut into a tassel cut bob that sits above the shoulders, together with a scalp clinic and a Milbon Repair hair clinic. Because the designer factored in that the writer doesn't blow-dry, the bob at Only For You holds its shape without styling, making it a satisfying visit.

Family brunch café in Suwon with a New York goods zone: Orange Bagel

Orange Bagel is a large New York-style bagel café in a red brick building on Omokcheon-ro in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon. On a family visit to Orange Bagel, the writer explored the big group tables, the Halloween photo zone and the New York goods zone, then took crab shrimp, olive tomato, red bean butter and bacon egg mayo bagels home to share. With its spacious interior and seasonal decorations, Orange Bagel suits both a family brunch and a solo change of scenery.

Suwon pizzeria: fries-topped Quarter Street pie at Backstreet Pizza

Backstreet Pizza is an American-style pizzeria in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, opened after its Ikseon-dong and Yeonnam-dong branches in Seoul. At Backstreet Pizza we ordered the Quarter Street, one pie with four flavors (shrimp, pepperoni, cheese & patty, and french fries), and the fries slice with Parmesan and honey stood out for its sweet-salty combo. Two of us finished a pie sized for 2 to 3 people, which makes Backstreet Pizza a delicious pizza spot in Haenggung-dong.

Cheongdam hair salon dark tone-down dye for faded hair: Beorn Hair
