Busan barbecue with dog stroller seating: Donbegi Gwang-an Branch

In short

Donbegi Gwang-an Branch is a barbecue restaurant near Gwangalli Beach in Suyeong, Busan. I visited with my husband and dog, ordered two portions of ogyeopsal and a beer, and appreciated the roomy first-floor seating and staff grilling the meat; the ogyeopsal with aged kimchi and myeongnanal was especially memorable.

What are the conditions for dining with a dog?

On the first day of my Busan trip, I was staying in Gwangalli and looking for a barbecue restaurant I could visit with my dog, so I went to Donbegi Gwang-an Branch (돈베기 광안점). It was close to Gwangalli Beach, and at the time of my visit, dogs could accompany guests if they stayed in a stroller.

How was the space for a stroller?

The restaurant operated on the first and second floors. Since we had a stroller, we were shown to the first floor, where it was easier to move around. The tables were spaced widely apart, which made dining with my dog comfortable, and there was also a private room on the second floor.

Because it was open late into the night, I chose it for dinner. Having the staff grill the meat themselves was also convenient for me while visiting with my dog.

What was on the menu, and what did we order?

There were set menus, individual cuts of meat, and side dishes to go with a meal or drinks. There were stews, noodles, and a summer-only cold noodle dish, so I thought a group could choose according to different preferences.

How was the staff-grilled ogyeopsal?

The charcoal-grilled ogyeopsal was crisp on the outside and moist inside. I especially liked the chewy texture of the thick skin.

Even though there were many guests, the staff checked the grill often and turned the meat for us. Thanks to that, my husband and I could eat comfortably while having beer.

With every bite, I could taste the meat juices and rich flavor. The chewiness of the skin added to it, and my husband and I both enjoyed the meal.

What went well with the ogyeopsal?

At a staff member's recommendation, I tried the ogyeopsal with muk-eunji (aged kimchi) and myeongnanal (pollock roe). The saltiness of the roe, along with the crisp texture and tang of the aged kimchi, made the meat feel less rich. I liked it so much that I kept eating it this way.

I came while looking for a restaurant to visit with my dog, and the wide table spacing and staff grilling service made for a comfortable meal. Being able to sit on the first floor with the stroller was especially nice on this visit.
