Gimpo Korean set meal for parents with a bibimbap bar: Bomseol
In short
Bomseol Gimpo is a Korean set-meal (hanjeongsik) restaurant on Geomdan-ro in Gimpo, Gyeonggi, right next to Positive Space, and is said to be run by a master of Korean cuisine. Looking for somewhere to take their parents, the writer made a first visit and ordered the 18,000-won-per-person Bomseol Table, then added barley rice bibimbap, kimchi jjim (braised kimchi) and dongchimi (radish water kimchi) from the self-serve bar. Bomseol Gimpo proved a satisfying, good-value Korean set meal for a family outing with older relatives.

Why I picked Bomseol Gimpo for a Korean set meal with my parents
Bomseol Gimpo (봄설 김포점) is a hanjeongsik (Korean set-course meal) restaurant on Geomdan-ro in Gimpo, and I hear it's run by a Korean cuisine master chef. I'm sure plenty of you are hunting for a family dinner spot in Gimpo, and I was too: I searched for ages thinking, is there anywhere good to take my parents? That's how I found Bomseol Gimpo. My parents love Korean food, and the master chef part made me trust it even more. Here's my honest review, haha!

Where is Bomseol Gimpo and how is the parking?
Bomseol Gimpo is at 102 ho, 910 Geomdan-ro, Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi, right beside Positive Space, the café that made it into the Guinness World Records as a giant café in Gimpo. It's open daily 11:00-21:30, with a break from 15:00 to 17:00 on weekdays. Parking is free, and corkage is available for a fee.
There's a big road nearby so it wasn't hard to find, and above all the roomy parking made me really happy 👍 I'm a scaredy-cat driver, so I always search whether a parking lot will be too tight. Bomseol has a wide entrance and tons of spaces :) If you're weighing a family meal or a company dinner, I'd say the location passes with flying colors.

Bomseol Table price and what's in it

The Bomseol Table (봄설밥상), the standard menu at Bomseol Gimpo, is ₩18,000 per person and comes with braised half-dried pollock, spicy stir-fried pork (jeyuk bokkeum), stone-pot rice and cheonggukjang (strong fermented soybean stew)!!! The lineup is seriously generous. I couldn't believe the number of side dishes at under ₩20,000 a head.
Doesn't ₩18,000 a person for a hanjeongsik place sound unbelievable?!? It was a price I could enjoy without stressing for the first time in a while, so I was so happy, ㅠㅠ. There's also a pa bulgogi set, barley-aged gulbi (salted yellow croaker), soy-marinated crab, seasoned cockles and more, so order to your taste :)

What are the side dishes and self-serve bar like at Bomseol Gimpo?
With the Bomseol Table, the basic side dishes fill the table, and the self-serve bar has other dishes that don't overlap with them. It was my first visit so I ordered the standard Bomseol Table. The variety is insane, right..? Since the self-serve bar is built around dishes other than the basic sides, the spread felt even more varied. And even with so many dishes, I could feel the effort put into the quality of each one.

Each of the basic sides was neatly done, and the fried dishes stayed crispy, which was delicious. Something like a tomato caprese salad whetted my appetite first, and I liked the sauce too.

At the Bomseol Gimpo self-serve bar you can also make barley bibimbap (rice mixed with vegetables), and there's kimchi jjim (braised kimchi) and dongchimi (radish water kimchi) too. It's been a while since I found a hanjeongsik place with such a solid self-serve bar!!!
How does the Bomseol Table taste?
For the price, the Bomseol Table at Bomseol Gimpo left nothing to be desired in quantity or lineup. I've been let down by the amount or composition at other hanjeongsik places before, but here I thought, wow, you can walk out after such a healthy meal for under ₩20,000 a person. Lately I always felt bloated after eating, but this food felt full of wholesomeness, so I finally felt comfortable :)

Braised pollock, spicy stir-fried pork and cheonggukjang
The braised pollock and jeyuk bokkeum in the Bomseol Table weren't harshly seasoned but clean-tasting, so I think they'd suit older palates well. The cheonggukjang was boiled rich and thick, and it was gentle on my stomach.

Self-serve barley bibimbap with kimchi jjim and dongchimi
What stuck with me most at Bomseol Gimpo was making bibimbap with barley rice at the self-serve bar. Adding kimchi jjim and dongchimi made it a really hearty meal. After stone-pot rice plus barley bibimbap, it felt like I'd eaten two meals in one..?! 🤣 If you're looking for a good-value restaurant for a family meal with elders, I don't think you can do much better!!
How do you make a reservation at Bomseol Gimpo?
For a bigger group, I recommend calling Bomseol Gimpo ahead to check for seats. For a set-size gathering like a company dinner or family get-together, booking in advance is even more worthwhile. Searching Bomseol Gimpo on Naver Map shows the location and reservation info right away, so that's handy to check :)
Evening visit tip: side dish discounts
If you visit Bomseol Gimpo in the evening, they also run a side dish discount event, so you could grab some banchan (side dishes) to take home after eating. I had a tasty, filling meal after a long time, and I'm planning to come back!
