Eunpyeong ramen with preheated bowls and tsukune chashu: Oreno Ramen
In short
Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong is a chicken-broth ramen restaurant a 3–4 minute walk from Saejeol Station Exit 2 in Eunpyeong, Seoul, right in front of Bulgwangcheon stream. Arriving around 6pm after work and taking a counter seat, I ordered tori paitan and karai paitan (13,000 won each) with tsukune chashu (chicken meatball slices) for 3,000 won and a soft-boiled egg for 1,000 won, and watched the staff warm each bowl in hot water before serving. Even if rich broth usually feels too heavy, this bowl of ramen at Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong goes down easily.

I went to Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong, a ramen spot right by Bulgwangcheon stream in Eunpyeong-gu. The chicken-based frothy broth isn't heavy, so it's great even for ramen beginners. The wood ear mushroom is the kick that gives it texture, I think. There are two menu items, tori paitan and karai paitan — tori is the base version and karai is the spicy one. Oreno Ramen was selected for the Michelin Bib Gourmand, so it's nice being able to enjoy that taste in Eunpyeong too~ It's especially great that the shop sits right along the stream, perfect for a walk before or after eating!
How to walk to Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong from Saejeol Station

It's about a 3–4 minute walk from Saejeol Station. Come out Exit 2 and cross the Bulgwangcheon bridge and you're close. The storefront is a bright color too, so it's easy to spot!

Since the shop sits right on Bulgwangcheon, it's full of cherry blossoms in spring, and in summer there are lush trees and a bright open view. It's really nice to take a walk before or after your meal~ Instant date course!
Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong menu and prices

There's a kiosk right when you walk in, so you order there — and I actually like that the menu is simple! Tori paitan and karai paitan are ₩13,000, tsukune chashu is ₩3,000, adding a soft-boiled egg is ₩1,000. Extra cilantro is free!

There are aprons hanging next to the kiosk, and you can see the outside view through the window, which is even nicer~
Is there a wait at 6pm? Counter seats after work

The shop has four 4-person tables plus counter seats, so it's good for groups too. We went around 6pm after work, and there was no wait — a few tables were already eating!

When we arrived the 4-person tables were full, so we sat at the counter. The interior felt clean and comfortable — nice! The staff were kind too.
Green tea water and free noodle, broth, rice and kimchi refills

Each seat had cool green tea water full of ice, which was perfect for a hot summer day. As written on the napkin, noodles, broth, rice, and kimchi are all free to refill. Just ask a staff member and they'll kindly bring more!

Chopsticks come out from a small drawer in front of you. There are pickles at every seat too — just help yourself.
Ramen served in a bowl preheated in hot water

Ohh, they dip the bowl into hot water first to warm it up. Thanks to that we got to eat even hotter ramen. Sitting at the counter, I could also see they carefully label expiration dates on the ingredients — even more trustworthy!

What tori paitan and karai paitan taste like
Tori paitan and karai paitan, an Eunpyeong-gu favorite! The broth is smooth and light, which I love even more. Personally I can't handle rich, heavy food well, but here I could slurp it down without any worry.

Can you tell how smooth and rich the broth feels! I also added the tsukune chashu, meatballs made from ground chicken, and that was super tender too,,

The wood ear mushroom topping I love so much! The texture is amazing,, it goes so well. Cut into long strips so you can slurp it right along with the noodles!

The egg was cooked to a perfect soft-boiled point too — delicious. My partner, who had the karai paitan, added another egg on top haha~ Honestly, the fun of ramen is partly eating that egg~ It's not too salty and the seasoning is just right~

The chicken topping with a touch of pepper was soft and light too, and it went really well!
The new tsukune chashu, and saving the rice add-on for next time
A few months ago there was no tsukune chashu, but now it's new on the menu, and after trying it — total hidden gem! I originally wanted to mix in rice, but the base noodles plus toppings alone were already so filling that I decided to save the rice add-on for next time!

Karai paitan is really the perfect broth for mixing in rice. If you like spicy food, definitely order this! It's also great to go with a friend, order one of each, and share.

The cola served over ice was the best too~. On a day when you're craving a high-quality, delicious bowl of food, head over to Oreno Ramen, an Eunpyeong-gu favorite~.~
