Garden5 matcha café in Songpa: cream matcha at Wunder Coffee Bar
In short
Wunder Coffee Bar Hyundai Outlet Garden5 branch is a newly opened ice cream and coffee café on B1 of Hyundai Outlet Garden5, near Jangji Station in Songpa, Seoul. After a meal, the blogger and his wife ordered a Wundergato with hojicha ice cream and a single cream matcha, and the strong, burnt-tasting coffee, bitter matcha and thick, gelato-like ice cream stood out. Wunder Coffee Bar is a good after-meal dessert stop at Garden5 for ice cream and matcha lovers.

Wunder Coffee, right next to the Garden5 favorite Gourmet Mui (고메무이)! I'd seen on Instagram that the ice cream here is amazing, and it happened to be right in front of us, so we dropped by.

What are the seats like, and is it kid-friendly?
Wunder Coffee Bar's Garden5 branch is on B1 of Hyundai Outlet Garden5, and it's a brand-new café that opened not long ago.

There are no tables inside the café, but the food zone right behind it has lots of tables, so you can sit there. They're only for people who bought food, so there was plenty of room! If you ask, they'll also find a baby chair for you.

There was a water dispenser too, and, fitting for a place families with babies visit often, a disinfectant spray. So great.
Wunder Coffee Bar menu and tips for ordering sets
The menu is made up of drinks and signature ice cream items, and it's not huge. We ordered two à la carte items: a Wundergato and a cream matcha.

While we were eating our meal, I noticed customers kept coming nonstop, haha. There were set menus too, but my wife was craving matcha, so we ordered à la carte: one Wundergato and one cream matcha. If two of you go, a Wundergato + Wunder Coffee set and a Wundergato + Americano set would probably be good value!? (There's also an ice cream + ice cream set.)

There were 3 ice cream flavors, and I picked the most signature one, hojicha (roasted green tea). The kids mostly seemed to eat vanilla.
🔥 Point: top-tier, luxurious ice cream
How did the hojicha ice cream Wundergato taste?
Wunder Coffee Bar's signature hojicha ice cream was bitter yet richly milky, thick like gelato, with a premium taste. Drinks came out quickly, and you can watch them being made. They scoop the ice cream in generously, haha.

Maybe because it's a green tea, the signature hojicha ice cream is bitter, with a deep bitterness that's different from matcha... a subtle thing. But the milk flavor itself is really rich, so it tastes very premium. It's thick and dense like gelato, and so good.

Wunder Coffee Bar's coffee is strong, with a pronounced burnt note
Ice cream aside, the coffee at Wunder Coffee Bar is just really good, haha. Super, super strong with a big burnt kick!! It tastes like coffee to me, and I like that kind of coffee, so I enjoyed it a lot. My wife said it was a bit too strong, though. Maybe a love-it-or-hate-it thing,,!
It may look like this, but with an affogato (ice cream drowned in espresso), mixing it all together is honestly the tastiest way to eat it. A premium version of Doowee Hunting (a Korean ice cream bar)! While I was slurping it, the kids were all staring like they wanted some, and I thought about giving a bite, but my wife scolded me for trying to give coffee to a child.

How strong is the cream matcha at Wunder Coffee Bar?
Wunder Coffee Bar's cream matcha is a matcha latte topped with cream foam, and the matcha bitterness is real, so matcha beginners may find it a little bitter. You can stir the cream in, but they say eating it as served is the tastiest way. There was a very generous amount of cream!

I stole a taste of this one too, and Wunder Coffee Bar does matcha well,, properly bitter, so much matcha flavor that beginners might find it a little bitter. My wife and I love matcha, so it was just right for us. When it feels too bitter, the cream on top comes in with it and balances it out, which is a treat in itself. I used to love Starbucks matcha lattes with cream on top, and this feels like a fancier version of that?
Wunder Coffee is perfect as an after-meal dessert at Garden5. Recommended if you like ice cream!
