Suwon bagel bakery gift box: Double Sand & garlic at Orange Bagel

In short

Orange Bagel is a large three-floor bakery café on Omokcheon-ro in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi. The writer and his heavily pregnant wife ate only the Deep Choco bagel at Orange Bagel, then took home a 4-bagel gift box of Double Sand, pizza, olive tomato and garlic bagels to eat over two days. Each Orange Bagel bagel reportedly weighs over 150g, so half is filling, and parking attendants make parking easy: a reliable Suwon bakery stop.

Since I was back in Suwon for the first time in a while, I stopped by Orange Bagel, which has been all the rage lately. I'd seen so many Instagram reels comparing it to Londons Bagel Museum ("Lonbe") and I finally went, haha.

What do Orange Bagel's exterior and interior look like?

Exterior of the large bakery café Orange Bagel

As you'd expect from the hottest bakery café in Suwon lately, the place is seriously huge. The interior has a total hip-hop vibe.

Hip-hop-style interior of Orange Bagel

Inside there's a merch shop, you can see the bagel packaging, and it's decorated with tons of cute little props. Instagram photo spots everywhere, haha.

There's only one register, but the staff are fast, so the line moves quickly. They say you get 10% off if you show you're a fan of the Bluewings (Suwon's football team), lol. Typical Suwon...

How is seating at Orange Bagel split across three floors?

Orange Bagel is split into floors 1, 2 and 3 (outdoor). The 1st floor is mostly big tables, nearly all seating 8 to 10 people, so it looks great for a family or group.

Big 8 to 10-person tables on the 1st floor of Orange Bagel

The 1st floor also has a bread factory behind a huge window, so you can watch the bagels being made!

The 2nd floor is the main one, with loads of photo zones and a great variety of seats and tables. It was full when we went, so I couldn't take detailed photos, but there's a big-window zone, and I liked that the seats aren't crammed right up against each other.

The 3rd floor is outdoor table seating, but that day there was a heatwave... so it was totally empty, haha. Yeah, way too hot.

Can you reheat bagels in the Orange Bagel oven?

Water and tableware are self-serve, and there's a separate oven for warming bagels. Warming a bagel makes it twice as good! But bagels with cream, chocolate, butter or salmon are not allowed in the oven.

Orange Bagel menu and how takeout works

The menu isn't hugely different from other cafés, and true to the name, the drinks with orange in them all seem like signatures. Since we had a heavily pregnant woman with us, we only took bread to go!

Bagel lineup on the Orange Bagel menu

This seems to be the bagel lineup. Over 20 kinds, I think...?

The bagels look amazing. We came at 2 pm and a few were already sold out, whoa.

There were meal and brunch bagels, sandwich bagels, classic bagels, and all kinds of cream cheese to go with them!!

Pick what you like. They'll pack single bagels, and from 4 bagels up they do a gift-box package, too, haha.

Which Orange Bagel bagels do reviewers recommend most?

For anyone who can't decide, here are the owner's recommended picks! These are the ones people talk about and review the most.

  • Olive tomato bagel
  • Scallion cream cheese
  • Angbutter (red bean and butter)
  • Double sand
  • Potato
  • Corn
  • Salmon
  • Jambon
  • Pizza (pepperoni)
  • Deep Choco

From the classics we picked five: double sand, pizza, Deep Choco, olive tomato and garlic. We packed four to go and ate the Deep Choco bagel there before leaving!

The gift packaging is enormous. The instructions come in both English and Korean. They say each bagel is over 150g, and maybe that's why, but they're really, really heavy. (The ones at Costco or E-Mart are usually around 80 to 100g, as far as I know.)

What does the Deep Choco bagel taste like?

The Deep Choco bagel has a crisp chocolate coating outside and is packed with fudgy chocolate filling inside. We had some time, so we ate it in the café. Honestly we're not big chocolate people, but chocolate baguette reels keep popping up lately and I was curious. This is a Suwon bakery hit, so I figured I should satisfy the craving with the Deep Choco bagel at least... so, picked it, lol.

Chocolate-coated outside of the Deep Choco bagel

There's a crisp chocolate coating plus what looks like chocolate chip cookie stuck on it, and when you cut it open there's something like brownie?? chocolate fudge?? crammed in there. Basically can't-be-bad.

Cross-section of the Deep Choco bagel packed with chocolate filling

It's so fudgy your teeth marks stay in it. The chocolate filling hits you with a really deep chocolate flavor, and combined with the chewy bagel, both in texture and taste, chocolate lovers have to get this... Even my wife, who hates sweet things, said it was just sweet enough and ate it well.

Half-eaten fudgy Deep Choco bagel

Each one is huge and the filling is a bomb, so I couldn't finish even one, lol. It's so dense that I was full after half. It would also suit people looking for a Suwon brunch café, and it can totally replace a meal. You can pack up what's left yourself like this and take it with you.

How was the 4-bagel gift box we took home?

This is our main 4-bagel takeout set.

Double Sand bagel

The double sand is a bagel thickly coated in sesame seeds with a cream cheese filling. It has cream in it, so we ate it first. The sesame seeds are coated on with no mercy, so the nutty flavor is insane, and I wondered what cream was inside, but it was a cream cheese filling. Nutty + salty + sweet = an unbeatable combo. And the texture is chewy, as a bagel should be.

Each one is so dense and so big that after the Deep Choco and the double sand that day, the two of us were K.O.'d, lol.

Garlic bagel the next day

The next day we started with the garlic bagel. It has a sweet garlic cream inside, the ultimate sweet-and-salty combo, and it was easy to enjoy. I recommend toasting it in the air fryer!

Olive tomato and pepperoni (pizza) bagels: should you buy both?

I don't recommend getting both the olive tomato and the pepperoni (pizza) bagels! The flavors are similar. The pepperoni pizza one is a bit more intense, a real dopamine hit, while the olive tomato one is plainer and milder.

Overall the bread (bagel) itself is delicious, so depending on the filling you get salty, sweet and nutty options, great for enjoying to your own taste. The café is big, so it's good for groups, and the pretty, moody photo zones are a bonus.
