In short

Visiting with a student, the writer ordered the two-person set of pho, pad thai and mixed fritters, finding the broth clean and light and the pad thai sweet and savory. When I was craving Vietnamese food in Anyang, I ended up going to Pho Witch this time. I'm introducing Pho Witch in Anyang — it might even make a good date spot!!

Today I went to treat my student to something tasty at a Vietnamese restaurant near the Pyeongchon academy street. Besides pho and pad thai, there's banh mi, fried rice, cha gio (fried spring rolls) and more — enough variety that just deciding what to order was fun.
Where is Pho Witch in Anyang, and what are the hours?

Pho Witch is best known for its pho and pad thai, and they also have set menus that let you try several dishes together, which was great since we were a party of two. I also liked the interior — it had a genuinely local, distinctive feel.

What comes in the Pho Witch two-person set?
That day I ordered the two-person set without a second thought. Since we came as two and wanted to try a little of everything, a set menu was honestly the easiest choice.

What I got was pho, pad thai, and mixed fritters! The mixed fritters came with cha gio, fresh spring rolls, fried shrimp and more, so it was easy to split things one by one.

How does the pho broth at Pho Witch taste?
I tried the pho first, and the broth was really clean and light. You could still taste the distinct pho aroma and the richness of the stock, but it wasn't heavy or overpowering at all — the kind of broth you keep going back for spoonful after spoonful.

I really love adding cilantro to my pho, and I'd definitely recommend doing the same here! If you're a cilantro fan, piling it on to bring out the aroma is a great move. And next up, the pad thai.

Pad thai: sweet and savory between bites of pho
Pad thai has its own charm, different from pho. It was sweet with a nice savory depth, and the noodles were well coated in sauce, so switching back and forth with the pho kept things from getting boring.

Pho Witch's pad thai is described as stir-fried with a variety of ingredients, and it really did work well shared between two, while also being hearty enough to eat solo as a single dish. And honestly, the dish I quietly enjoyed the most was the mixed fritters.

Mixed fritters: cha gio, spring rolls and fried shrimp on one plate
With cha gio, fresh spring rolls, fried shrimp and more all together, it was fun picking through and trying one of each. Eating the crispy fritters alongside the pad thai or dipped into the pho turned out to be a better combo than I expected.
Above all, I liked that everything we ate that day felt clean and light overall. Vietnamese food can sometimes bring to mind strong spices or intense flavors, but Pho Witch leaned toward the easy-to-enjoy, non-overwhelming side. So I think it'd work well whether you're already into Vietnamese food or trying it with someone for the first time.

Solo seats, family tables and the self-serve bar at Pho Witch
The overall atmosphere is pretty relaxed, so it seemed good for eating with friends, casual family dinners, or a light date. Per the store's own info, they have everything from solo seats to family-size tables, so it works for eating alone or with a group — and the self-serve bar was well kept, too!
There was one dish that came to mind right after we finished eating: pineapple fried rice! Pho Witch has a stir-fried dish with pineapple, shrimp, bacon and assorted vegetables, and apparently also a pad-thai-style fried rice, so now I really want to try one of those fried rice dishes next time.
This time we tried a good spread with the two-person set — pho, pad thai, and mixed fritters — but next visit I'll have to try something different. If you're looking for a good pho spot in Anyang or near the Pyeongchon academy street, Pho Witch is worth adding to the list. Especially if you're like me and load your pho up with cilantro — you'll probably be even happier here! A bowl of light, clean pho plus pad thai and crispy mixed fritters made for a pretty satisfying meal.
The lucky draw at Pho Witch after paying
On the way out, we got to try a lucky draw. I was hoping for a ₩50,000 meal voucher... but what I got was a spring roll 😃😃😃

Such a fun little event, it put me in a great mood!!! Next time, I'm definitely trying that pineapple fried rice!

Whenever I'm craving Vietnamese food in Anyang, I think I'll be heading back to Pho Witch. :) It was a great meal.
