Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon Seongsan Ilchulbong Branch is a braised hairtail and grilled tilefish restaurant in Seongsan that opens at 8am. I wanted a solid breakfast during our Jeju trip, so we went.

We visited at 9am with two adults and two kids. It's honestly hard to find a restaurant open early in the morning when you're traveling. This place opens at 8am, so it was great for starting our Seongsan itinerary right after breakfast.

It's also fairly close to Aqua Planet Jeju and Phoenix Island, so if you're staying nearby or sightseeing with kids around there, it's worth considering as a meal spot too.

Inside the restaurant, and the high chair for kids

The inside of Jejurowoon was clean and well organized. It was comfortable to sit down and eat with the kids in the morning, and a high chair was ready for us.

When you're traveling in Jeju with a young child, the first thing you check for is whether a place has a high chair — so this was a welcome detail for a family visit.

Is Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon open during the Chuseok holiday?

When I checked, the restaurant said it would be open from 8am to 9:30pm even during the Chuseok holiday, September 24–26. If you're looking for a Seongsan restaurant open on Chuseok, this could help — but I'd recommend reconfirming on the day of your visit.

The menu and the A set for two we ordered

Jejurowoon's signature dishes are braised hairtail and grilled tilefish. There's also a seafood hot pot and sea urchin seaweed soup, so you can pick whichever Jeju dish you're craving.

We ordered the A set for two.

The side dishes came out first. I wasn't sure the set for two would be enough for two adults and two kids, but once the dishes started arriving one by one, the table looked really full.

The soy-marinated crab, which I heard they also ship, was what I was most looking forward to.

It was packed full inside! Total overeating vibes for a breakfast, haha 😅

Braised hairtail (galchi-jorim) that tasted even better after so long

The kids love fish, so I grill it for them fairly often, but braised dishes take more effort, so we barely make them at home. That's why the braised hairtail felt extra welcome that day.

Eating braised hairtail with warm rice in the morning felt like a proper meal in the middle of our trip. If you want hairtail in Jeju but can't decide between grilled and braised, a set that gives you both is a good call.

We shared the grilled tilefish with the kids too. Since they're usually good with fish, it was nice that everyone in the family had something to dig into.

Sea urchin seaweed soup and sticky rice in a stone pot

We went with the sea urchin seaweed soup. Unlike the beef seaweed soup I make often at home, this one was light and easy to eat in the morning. Alternating spoonfuls of the soup with the braised hairtail worked really well together.

And the sweet rice in the stone pot had grains that were genuinely glossy. Piling braised hairtail and soy-marinated crab onto the warm, fresh rice by turns, the rice disappeared fast. All four of us ate a really solid breakfast and it made for a great start to the day!

• Being able to eat at 9am was convenient — a good option for families wanting breakfast in Seongsan before starting a sightseeing day.
• Two adults and two kids ate their fill on the A set for two. There was a good range of dishes — braised hairtail, grilled tilefish, soy-marinated crab, and seaweed soup.
• The store was clean and had a high chair, which made it easy to visit with kids.
• It was nice to eat braised hairtail, which we don't often make at home, and the glossy sweet rice and light sea urchin seaweed soup especially stuck with me.
