Yongin ramen shop's weekend set with half hire katsu: Myeonsikdang
In short
Myeonsikdang Suji Government Office branch (면식당 수지구청점) is a ramen and tonkatsu restaurant in the food alley near Suji-gu Office Station in Yongin, Gyeonggi. For a weekend lunch, two people built the 2-person set: tonkotsu ramen with 2 extra soft-boiled eggs, handmade pork loin katsu, a fire-grilled mini butadon (pork rice bowl), a half portion of hire katsu (pork tenderloin cutlet) and lemonade, for just over 30,000 won. Getting ramen and katsu in one meal at that price made Myeonsikdang's set great value and very filling.

Where near Suji-gu Office Station can you get ramen and tonkatsu in one meal?
Myeonsikdang Suji Government Office branch (면식당 수지구청점) is a ramen restaurant in the eatery alley near Suji-gu Office Station, where you can enjoy ramen and katsu together. I met my boyfriend near Suji-gu Office on a weekend lunch, and we were craving rich, piping-hot ramen broth and crispy Japanese-style tonkatsu >.<
There are so many restaurants in this alley, but this one has a solid menu and great value, so it's wildly popular with office workers and students at lunch. So off we went! It's the ramen place Myeonsikdang Suji Government Office branch, haha

We ordered the 2-person set, where you pick ramen, katsu, rice bowls, sides and a drink to taste, and we left stuffed and amazed, haha. Here's my honest, detailed review of this lunch that was the ultimate in generous portions >.<

Myeonsikdang Suji Government Office branch: location and atmosphere
The restaurant is a 3–4 minute walk from Exit 1 or 2 of Suji-gu Office Station on the Shinbundang Line, so it was super easy to find. It's right in the middle of the cram-school area and eatery alley, so it's a perfect spot for a quick lunch, haha
Inside, it's small but cozy and warm, with wood-tone interiors!

The tables and tableware were spotless, without a trace of grease, so the first impression was fresh and pleasant. There's a bar table for eating solo plus tables for 2–4 people, so it's perfect for a couple's date or a lunch get-together >.<

How do you build the 2-person set at Myeonsikdang?
The 2-person set is ₩27,400 base and includes 2 mains, 2 sides and a drink. We sat down and browsed the menu on the tablet. Single dishes are good, but the 2-person set, where you taste lots of things at once, is the best value! It's a solid combination, so we picked to our liking, haha
- Main 1: Handmade loin katsu (+₩2,600)
- Main 2: Tonkotsu ramen (+₩500) / 2 extra soft-boiled eggs (+₩1,000)
- Side 1: Fire-grilled mini butadon (pork rice bowl) (+₩0)
- Side 2: Half hire katsu (tenderloin cutlet) (+₩1,100)
- Drink: Cold lemonade (+₩0)
The cold lemonade came out first. The fresh, zingy fizz rinsed my mouth clean between bites of fried food and ramen, so it was a perfect match, hahaha

Is adding 2 soft-boiled eggs to the tonkotsu ramen worth it?
Myeonsikdang's tonkotsu ramen had a rich pork-bone broth with no off smell, and I felt the 2 extra soft-boiled eggs (+₩1,000) are a must-have option. Next the main dish arrived, the tonkotsu ramen >.< I started with a spoonful of the milky broth, and it had a deep, rich pork-bone flavor with no gamey smell at all that coated my mouth!
The noodles were cooked springy and chewy without breaking, and slurping them with crunchy bean sprouts was so soothing, haha
My boyfriend and I are both serious about ramen eggs, so we added 2 soft-boiled eggs (+₩1,000)! Honestly, this is a must-add option, hahaha. They were soaked with salty special soy sauce, and the yolk burst open jelly-soft and moist. Dunked into the broth, it was heavenly ㅠㅠ

How is the fire-grilled mini butadon side?
The fire-grilled mini butadon I picked as a side for the 2-person set cost nothing extra, and even in mini size there was quite a generous amount of meat. It was a real treat too!
Scooping up a big spoonful, the smoky grill aroma hit my nose and the sweet-salty special sauce had soaked into every grain of rice. It's the definition of rice thief, haha. A sip of ramen broth and then a spoonful of butadon, and the carb charge is totally complete, hahaha

Handmade loin katsu vs. half hire katsu
The handmade loin katsu at Myeonsikdang had a crispy coating and thick, juicy meat, while the half hire katsu was tender enough to melt in your mouth. And this was the katsu lineup that my boyfriend, a true tonkatsu lover, raved about! The main was the handmade loin katsu and the side I picked was the half hire katsu, haha
The loin katsu's coating was so crispy it crackled, and the inside was packed with thick, juicy meat, so it was properly satisfying to chew.

The tenderloin hire katsu that came as a side was, no lie, so tender it melted the moment it hit my mouth >.<

Whether I dipped it in salt with a bit of wasabi or into the dedicated sauce, the quality was nothing to envy a premium katsu restaurant for, hahaha

How were the portions and price for two?
With options added, the 2-person set came to just over ₩30,000, and the two of us ate until we could barely breathe. Ramen, loin katsu, hire katsu, butadon and lemonade, a full-course spread, and we stuffed ourselves silly, hahaha
For a kind price of just over ₩30,000, we enjoyed such a variety of high-quality dishes that both value and satisfaction were a perfect 100 >.< If you're looking for a hearty, tasty lunch near Suji-gu Office Station, or a ramen shop there where you can have rich-broth ramen and crispy-outside, juicy-inside katsu in one go, definitely stop by Myeonsikdang Suji Government Office branch! I strongly recommend the hearty 2-person set with the extra soft-boiled egg option, haha
