Pocheon Italian restaurant for a garden-view brunch drive: From Italy

In short

From Italy (프롬이태리) is a European-style Italian restaurant in Gomo-ri, Soheul-eup, Pocheon, Gyeonggi. On a Pocheon drive, the writer had a brunch-style meal of gebawi pasta (crab-rock pasta), a blueberry and pepperoni half-and-half pizza, ade and coffee, and was won over from the first bite of the squid ink ciabatta served before the meal. With a large private parking lot and floor-to-ceiling garden-view windows, From Italy works well for both dates and family meals.

On my latest Pocheon drive, I finally made it to From Italy (프롬이태리), a place I'd been wanting to visit. It's also known as a filming location for Jang Do-yeon and Karina, so I was curious, and once I got there I understood why so many people come. The food has personality, the interior is gorgeous, and I took SO many photos ><

Where is From Italy Gomo-ri, and is there parking?

From Italy is at 669 Jukyeopsan-ro, Soheul-eup, Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi. There's a large private parking lot right in front, so coming by car was really easy.

It's a popular spot for drives, so access is good, and it's a perfect stop if you're hunting for a restaurant near Gwangneung Arboretum. You can take a walk or keep driving around after your meal, so it worked well as a weekend outing.

What is the garden-view dining room at From Italy like?

Inside, From Italy has an old-world feel, like you're traveling in Europe. There are tons of Blue Ribbon signs>< The moment you walk in, it feels like a trip to Europe!

The classic interior, with chandeliers and antique props blending together, was really pretty.

The garden view through the big windows was so lovely that I felt healed through the whole meal.

The tables are spaced fairly far apart, so it never felt cramped, and it suits dates, family meals and anniversary dinners alike.

There are so many photo spots that I picked up my camera before the food even arrived.

Squid ink ciabatta: From Italy's house-made bread

The first thing that came out after ordering was the bread. It's house-made squid ink ciabatta.

First up after ordering: the bread!

They say the squid ink ciabatta is house-made and aged for over 14 hours, and maybe that's why the inside was moist and chewy.

The outside was lightly crisp and the nutty flavor grew the more I chewed, so even though it was just starter bread, I kept reaching for more. A place that nails even the bread makes you excited for the rest.

How was From Italy's gebawi pasta?

From Italy's gebawi pasta (게바위파스타) is a signature dish served with a puffed bread shaped like a crab rock. The slightly spicy cream sauce was generously loaded with seafood.

This was the dish I was most looking forward to this visit! The gebawi pasta, famous as a Pocheon pasta spot.

As the name suggests, it comes with a huge puffed bread (gongal-ppang) shaped like a crab rock, and the look is so unique that I took photos first.

Cracking open the bread and eating it with the pasta was fun, and the slightly spicy sauce cut through the richness of the cream nicely.

The seafood was plentiful and chewy in a good way, and the sauce soaked into the noodles so I enjoyed it to the last bite. It's not just a showy dish; the taste was satisfying too.

Blueberry and pepperoni half-and-half pizza

The half-and-half pizza at From Italy lets you have blueberry and pepperoni on one pie. Alternating sweet blueberry with salty pepperoni gave a nice balance.

Blueberry pizza felt a little unfamiliar at first, but I was curious, so I ordered it.

Sweet blueberries and cheese go together way better than I expected.

It had a dessert-pizza feel with a fresh tang, so I kept going back for more.

The pepperoni, on the other hand, had that familiar salty taste, and switching back and forth with the blueberry side gave a really good sweet-salty balance.

If you like trying something different, it's worth a shot!!

Ade and coffee for a brunch-style finish

At From Italy, I also ordered ade (a fruit soda) and coffee. They went well with the meal, so the whole thing felt like a brunch.

Ade and coffee drinks ordered with the meal

I ordered ade and coffee as well, and they paired nicely with the meal.

It felt like a leisurely brunch overall, and sipping coffee while looking at the garden outside, I lost track of time.

Verdict: is From Italy worth a Pocheon drive for pasta?

The food at From Italy was good, but the space itself was what really charmed me.

With its classic European interior and garden view, the mood is great, so it works for dates and was satisfying for visiting with family too.

Restaurant atmosphere blending with the garden view

There are lots of distinctive menu items, which makes it more fun than an ordinary restaurant. If you're looking for a Gomo-ri pasta spot to combine with a drive, it's worth a stop ><
