Gwangalli brunch café: bacon Benny under red cabbage, Famous Benny
In short
Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch is a Blue Ribbon-awarded, Australian-style brunch café in a two-story standalone building near Millak Raw Fish Center in Gwangalli, Busan. Tired of heavily seasoned food on a Busan trip, the writer visited on a weekday morning and ordered The Famous Benny with bacon, served under a layer of red cabbage, along with French toast, Ethiopian drip coffee and an iced Americano. Famous Benny is a little pricey, but the plating and flavors made it a brunch of a lifetime, with a 120% chance of a return visit.

On a recent trip to Busan with my boyfriend, we ate so much heavy, spicy food that I started craving something cleaner and a salad, so I went looking for a brunch café! The place I found is Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch (페이머스 베니 광안리점), near Millak Raw Fish Center by Gwangalli Beach. It's got a Blue Ribbon and serves proper Australian-style brunch!! There were lots of foreign guests when I visited, too ◟( ˘ ³˘)◞ ♡
Famous Benny Gwangalli: opening hours and parking
Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch is a standalone building with two floors (1st and 2nd) at 64 Millakbondong-ro 11beon-gil, Suyeong-gu, Busan. It's open 08:00–18:00, with last order at 17:00.

Exterior and first-floor atmosphere
The exterior is a stylish two-story standalone building, and there are terrace seats too, so it'd be lovely to have brunch outside when the weather's nice! There's a menu board at the entrance, so we looked it over slowly before going in.

The first floor has the counter, and next to it there are 2-person seats. I think the first floor suits couples or people dining solo.

The shop only opened recently, so it's super clean, and big vases stuffed with fresh flowers made the mood so lovely.

A magazine-style menu and choosing your drip coffee beans
The menu is made like a magazine :) Is the photo on the cover an iceberg pool? I'd love to go see it someday. They also sell drip coffee, and you can choose your beans, so keep that in mind!

On weekends, check for a seat before you order
You order at the first-floor counter, so we ordered our food and then headed upstairs! We went on a weekday morning, so it wasn't crowded, but this place is bound to be popular on weekends, so I recommend checking for seats first and then ordering.

Both floors are done in wood tones with plants dotted around, which gave the place a comfy, cozy feel.

There's a water dispenser, plenty of small plates, tissues and wet wipes, and lots of cute blankets too. I get cold from air conditioning, so I loved that :)

What we ordered at Famous Benny
We ordered an iced Americano, a drip coffee, the signature The Famous Benny (eggs Benedict), and French toast!

I thought the prices were a bit high for brunch, but you get a truly perfect spread for it. The owner also serves it to your table personally. It was the most glamorous, high-quality brunch, the kind where you think, I've never had brunch like this before.

Even the fork and knife come in a square tray, and I just love that kind of thoughtfulness and charm.

How do the Ethiopian drip coffee and iced Americano taste?
Each cup of coffee at Famous Benny comes with a card describing its flavor. Let me try the coffee first! It's a cold iced Americano and a drip coffee, and I ordered the drip in Ethiopian, haha.

The Americano's card says "vivid cocoa and red berries in a rich body," and it really did taste exactly like cocoa and red berries. The acidity isn't strong, and it came across as a pleasantly subtle note, so even I, a person who hates sourness, could enjoy this coffee!!
The Ethiopian drip's card says "orange peel flavor, apricot jam, clean cocoa finish, long lingering aftertaste," and, well, it's just delicious, hahaha. It's the kind of coffee that makes you say "Wow, this coffee is good!!" out loud, haha. I love that every coffee comes with a card so you can savor what you're drinking. It's totally my taste.

The signature Famous Benny hiding under red cabbage
The signature The Famous Benny comes covered in red cabbage, and you can choose salmon or bacon. I went with bacon!! It's an eggs Benedict with croissant, poached egg, avocado, sabayon sauce, macadamia nuts and onion chips.

When I lifted the cabbage, this beautiful brunch was underneath. The prettiest eggs Benedict in the world, honestly T_T How does the owner have such a great sense of plating?!
I popped the perfectly cooked poached egg and spread it over the croissant. The bread was so good I wondered whether they bake the croissants themselves.
Then I squeezed on the lemon juice they gave us!! The light freshness really brought out the flavor. I almost thought, am I in Australia right now? haha

What does the croissant French toast taste like?
The Famous Benny French toast is made with croissant, bacon, banana, berry compote, butter crumble, maple syrup and mixed seeds. "I've never had French toast like this!! But it's definitely French toast" is exactly what it is. Isn't it so pretty to look at?!
This is seriously so good. French toast is something we usually get from street stalls. It keeps that familiar taste while adding a really upscale brunch flavor, and my mouth was so happy... I'm drooling while writing this.

Brunch at the window seats, and my overall verdict
Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch has big windows with seats where you can eat while watching the street outside. Having brunch there was pure healing,, five-star hotel brunch? Not jealous at all. This is simply the best brunch, the best, everyone T_T

The brunch is so pretty and the café's mood is so good that I kept taking photos.. This is definitely going on my Instagram story, haha.
We shared the eggs Benedict first, then shared the French toast drizzled with honey as dessert, and I was so happy. I think this will be the first thing I think of whenever I remember Busan!!
A stylish, life-changing brunch spot, 120% will return
