On a weekday morning visit with a baby, the writer ordered an iced latte and a lemon madeleine for ₩7,000, and pregnant guests at Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters can switch to decaf beans for free. Main image of a visit to Jeong Jiyeong Coffee at Starfield Suwon

I recently took my baby to a café at Starfield Suwon with great coffee: Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters (정지영커피로스터즈). It's on the 2nd floor of the mall, so it's easy to find after just one escalator ride.

Where to find Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters Starfield Suwon

The Starfield Suwon branch sits at the start of Gourmet Street, the restaurant area on the 2nd floor of Starfield Suwon. Ride the escalator up once and you'll see it right away. This is a place I often visit with my own money, too.

There's seating next to the shop as well. I wondered how confident someone must be in their beans to open a café under their own name! I've loved this place since its Haenggung-dong days, and now that it's become a go-to spot at Starfield Suwon, I find myself coming more often, haha. I like their lattes, and when I was pregnant I used to drink them decaf.

The menu and free decaf for pregnant guests

Menu board at Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters

Pregnant guests can switch to decaf beans for free at Jeong Jiyeong Coffee, which is why I always wore my pregnancy badge back then. The signature drink is the coconut latte, and the flat white is popular too, so people order it a lot.

There are plenty of desserts to catch your eye, too. Besides cakes there are madeleines and financiers, but the financiers happened to be sold out that day. I ordered one iced latte and lemon madeleines for ₩7,000. I was curious about the hand drip options, but I'll come back when I want a clean iced americano. Dining in requires one drink per person. For people sensitive to caffeine, there's also strawberry latte, misugaru (roasted grain drink) and tea.

I came a little before lunchtime, so the cakes and the melon-and-mandarin sando (sandwich) were tempting, but I decided to resist. Besides madeleines I also saw s'more cookies and almond snowballs. I assumed the price was per piece, but the pack held several lemon madeleines.

My husband said before that he's really curious about the coconut latte here. I'm not big on sweet things, so I skipped it this time. Next time I'd like to bring him along, tell him to try it, and steal a sip, haha. It just looks sweet and delicious.

Is it quiet on a weekday morning?

I took a seat inside the café. Other cafés in Starfield Suwon can get really crowded, so I liked being able to enjoy this one a bit more quietly. I think the weekday made the biggest difference, and I expected it to get busier after lunch. If you want a calmer visit like mine, I recommend a weekday morning.

Iced latte and lemon madeleine review

A glass of iced latte and a bag of madeleines

I didn't wait long before the iced latte and lemon madeleines came out. With so many pieces in the bag, I thought, "Will I be full after finishing these?" I was happy there were more than I expected, haha.

The beans have a nutty flavor that suited my taste perfectly. I asked for less ice, and the staff thoughtfully scooped some out, which made the coffee taste richer. I was very happy with that. The madeleines were soft and delicious too. I even had some left over, so I took them home to share.

Interior atmosphere and seating

Casual café interior

The inside of this Starfield Suwon favorite with tasty beans is casual. It looked suitable for meeting in a small group of two or three friends. Besides seats for 1–2 people, there are also tables for four.

For anyone who wants to come alone, there are bar-style seats. The seats have outlets, and I saw people who had brought laptops. There's a whole row of single seats, and it looks fine to sit side by side with a friend, too.

And there was a real bar table too, haha. I thought the layout was cleverly done. You can sit wherever you like to chat or rest on your own. It's a really nice spot.

Goods and coffee bean corner

I liked that the walls are decorated so they never feel boring. There were sweatshirts with the Suwon logo, caps, mugs and fun posters. I thought a glass of misugaru would be perfect as a meal replacement.

They also seem to sell their own beans. You can find beans from different countries such as Kenya, Colombia and Ethiopia, which is nice. There's decaf too.

My hobby is basically going around to drink great coffee like this, and Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters is one of those places. I plan to come back with my baby again, haha. Usually I got takeout every time, but this day I wanted to sit and enjoy it. Luckily the baby slept well, so I got to relax.

Opening hours and parking

When I came out after finishing, there was a line, as always at this Starfield Suwon favorite. Next time I should come for the cake or sando with a latte, haha. For parking, use the mall's underground parking. The shop is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with last order at 9:30 p.m.
