In short

Baekseok Kkogijip (백석꼬기집) is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Exit 6 of Baekseok Station in Ilsandong-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi. It is known for wide-open doors that give it a casual outdoor-dining feel, and for meat that is grilled in the kitchen and served ready to eat. The writer ordered the marinated Korean pork set for two (51,000 won), which came with hanwoo yukhoe (Korean beef tartare), steamed egg, corn cheese and doenjang (soybean paste) stew, and refilled side dishes at the self-serve bar. Baekseok Kkogijip suits anyone who wants a generous BBQ set in an open-air mood without grilling the meat themselves.

What's the open-air vibe at Baekseok Kkogijip like?

With the doors flung wide open, Baekseok Kkogijip has a real outdoor-eating (yajang, street-style open-air) feel! The atmosphere made it even more charming. On a nice day, I bet a glass of beer with a piece of tasty meat in the cool breeze would be wonderful. If you like that open-air mood, you'll love this space. 🥩

Baekseok Kkogijip also has a lunch menu that's good value!

Inside, it's roomy and pleasant, which I liked! The tables are spaced comfortably, so you can eat in peace without being bothered by the next table. 😊

The open-air mood was just so good! On a nice day, sitting at an outdoor table with a cold beer and tasty meat sounds perfect, right? 🍻 A piece of golden-grilled meat plus a sip of beer, and that's a proper dinner.

Marinated pork set for two, ₩51,000: what's in it?

What I ordered at Baekseok Kkogijip was the marinated pork set for two at ₩51,000. The menu description says: first glass with 1++ hanwoo yukhoe (raw seasoned beef)! Then aged, the classic sweet-salty marinated pork, plus a spicy kimchi stew or doenjang stew.

First glass with 1++ hanwoo yukhoe! Then 48-hour-plus aged marinated pork, the standard of sweet and salty + spicy kimchi stew / doenjang stew

Besides the main meat, it came with yukhoe, steamed egg, corn cheese, doenjang stew and more. I liked that you get to enjoy plenty of dishes alongside the meat instead of meat alone. I waited excited to see what would come out! 😋

Basic table setting and a proper start with yukhoe

Baekseok Kkogijip's basic setting with lettuce and myeongi-namul

The basic setting at Baekseok Kkogijip is quite generous: lettuce, myeongi-namul (pickled wild garlic-like greens), and radish salad. At a BBQ place I always check the basic banchan (side dishes) first, and I liked that this one was solid from the start. 😋 The lettuce was fresh and crunchy, and with the myeongi-namul and sweet-and-sour radish salad, there was plenty to pair with the meat. Mixing a different side with each bite of meat was a lot of fun!

Before the main meat, yukhoe arrived first like an appetizer. A BBQ set that includes yukhoe? I loved the generous start.

The bright red yukhoe looked delicious right away.

Three sides: steamed egg, corn cheese, doenjang stew

The marinated pork set for two comes with three sides: steamed egg, corn cheese and doenjang stew. The meat alone would be plenty, but the fluffy steamed egg, nutty corn cheese and hearty doenjang stew made the table even richer. 😍

Three sides: steamed egg, corn cheese and doenjang stew

Between bites of sweet-spicy marinated meat, I had soft steamed egg and sweet corn cheese, then finished with the doenjang stew, and the combination was really good. From mains to sides, Baekseok Kkogijip was satisfying! If you're looking for a Baekseok BBQ place with a generous set, keep it on your radar.

Pre-grilled marinated pork: how does it taste?

Pre-grilled marinated pork at Baekseok Kkogijip

The marinated pork at Baekseok Kkogijip isn't grilled by you; it arrives already nicely grilled. And here comes today's star, the marinated pork! My favorite point was exactly that the meat comes out perfectly grilled! 🥩 No conversation interrupted by grilling, less worry about grease splatter on your clothes or smoke, so it seems fine for a date or a get-together. 😊

Tasty meat makes me happy no matter when I eat it! 😋

It came with grilled shishito peppers, onions and mushrooms, and their nutty vegetable flavor made it a combo I couldn't stop picking at.

The sweet marinade soaked well into the meat, and just looking at it made my mouth water. It's also nice that you don't grill it yourself, so it's easier to enjoy. At BBQ places, sometimes one person keeps grilling and can't really join the meal, right? At Baekseok Kkogijip you don't have to; everyone can sit back, chat and eat. For that reason, it suits anyone looking for a Baekseok BBQ place or a relaxed Baekseok spot for a company dinner!

A piece of marinated pork with wasabi

A winning combo with wasabi and myeongi-namul

Put a little wasabi on the marinated pork and the pungent kick brings out the sweet-salty balance even more. The moment you bite in, the juices spread, and the sweet marinade soaked into the meat fills your mouth. 😍 The meat was tender too, and I liked it more with every bite.

A wrap of myeongi-namul with marinated pork and wasabi

Lay a leaf of myeongi-namul down, add two thick pieces of meat and a touch of wasabi, and it's a truly winning combo! Sweet marinated meat with sharp wasabi and fragrant myeongi-namul: less greasy, more flavor.

Doenjang stew and a bowl of rice for the finish

Finishing with rice in the doenjang stew

To finish, I stirred rice into the hearty doenjang stew and ended on a full stomach! 🍚 After enjoying the meat, scooping rice into the hot stew made a perfect ending. You can't skip the doenjang stew and rice after meat. 😋
