Chilango is close to Seolleung Station!

It opens in the afternoon, so it's great for grabbing dinner right after work like I did, or for a light drink 🍺

What the restaurant looks and feels like inside

Chilango Seolleung Main Branch has that distinct Mexican restaurant feel, plus a vintage, hip look all its own. It's casual enough to drop by with friends but the atmosphere works fine for a date too!

There's also a cute resident dog in the shop 🐶 Since dogs are welcome, this is worth keeping in mind if you're looking for a place to visit with your pup — it's so cute, and the way it looks at you feels almost human..🐶

I almost never take bathroom photos, but this one was so hip with so many covetable little objects that I had to snap a few haha!

They also serve a wide range of drinks — beer, wine, whiskey, cocktails, and more — all suited to the shop's vibe and to the tacos! On cooler days I'd recommend beer and tacos out on the terrace 🌮

Rather than picking just one flavor, we wanted to try two different kinds, so we chose beef and shrimp, one each!

Which sauces come with the taco plate?

Chilango's two-person taco plate comes with a really wide range of sauces! From guacamole to salsa, cheese sauce, and sour cream, you can mix and match to your taste haha. You know how the same taco can taste totally different depending on the sauce, right~?

And then the taco filling comes out, packed with beef and shrimp! The look of it is insane..🫶 The reason I love Mexican food is that everything is piled generously into it, and this place really delivers!!

We read through the tips for eating the tacos and the sauce descriptions that came with them before actually digging in~!!

How does the beef taco taste?

Beef taco 🌮 the beef has a richer, heavier flavor!

They load the tortilla generously with beef and vegetables, then top it with whichever sauce you like haha. The savory flavor of the beef really comes through, and with all those vegetables piled in, it was easy to eat! Add sour cream on top and suddenly you're in Mexico 🫢

How does the shrimp taco taste?

Shrimp taco 🍤 completely different vibe from the beef. The shrimp has a springy bite, so the texture is great, and it's a bit lighter and fresher than the beef! The big chunks of pepper mixed in had a really nice bite too haha.

We dipped the nachos that came with it generously into the cheese sauce! Eat a taco, snack on some nachos in between — perfect as a beer snack too!

Best taco plate combinations and final verdict

Alternating between the two flavors kept things from getting monotonous compared to sticking with just one kind, so I'd recommend ordering your plate with two different types. With meat, vegetables, and sauce all coming together — salty, savory, and packed with fresh vegetables — I kept reaching for more, and more~~

Chilango suited me perfectly on a day when I wanted to graze on a few delicious things with a beer rather than eat one heavy meal! On a nice day especially, enjoying tacos and beer together out on the terrace would be great too 🍺🌮
