Sunset rooftop and decaf lattes at a Suwon café: Jeong Ji-young

In short

Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch is a large café at a Haenggung-dong crossroads in Suwon that fills an entire building from basement level 1 up to a 5th-floor rooftop. After dinner, the writer and her husband ordered a decaf coconut latte (7,000 won) and a decaf vanilla latte (6,800 won) and enjoyed the sunset and a cool breeze on the 5th-floor rooftop, though the peach yogurt cake had already sold out. Open until 22:00, Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters is a classic, can't-go-wrong café for late-evening coffee in Haenggung-dong.

Evening atmosphere at Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch

A Haenggung date with my husband after a long while! ☕️ We wanted a nice dinner in Haenggung-dong and then coffee while the day faded into sunset, so we headed to the classic Haenggung-dong café, Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters. It stays open pretty late for this neighborhood, and it's the classic of classics, a place I trust. haha :-) The signature coconut latte here is my absolute favorite.

The Haenggung Main Branch I visited sits near the crossroads, the hottest spot in Haenggung-dong, so it's easy to find. It's a big café that uses an entire building from basement 1 to the 5th floor. There are n Jeong Ji-young Coffee shops in Haenggung-dong, so any of them is fine, but I especially love the rooftop at this main branch!

Decaf for an Evening Visit: What We Ordered and Prices

You order on basement 1. Since we came in the evening, my husband and I both went for decaf!

  • Coconut latte (₩7,000)
  • Vanilla latte (₩6,800)
  • Decaf, 1 cup (₩500)
  • = ₩14,300

Maybe because we came late in the evening, the peach yogurt cake was already sold out. We'd had dinner, so we didn't order dessert, but the desserts here are good too! They're especially good at soft bakery items, and next time I'll try the fresh fruit sando (sandwich) XD

Goods and coffee beans displayed beside the order counter

While browsing the goods and bakery by the order counter, our coffee came out in no time. That stand that looks like an egg holder is their signature-that-isn't-really-a-signature. haha

A Different Mood on Each Floor: 2nd, 3rd and 4th

It's a five-floor café, so every floor has its own feel. The 2nd floor is really good for chatting. It's hip, with mirrors here and there, so it's great for photos too!

The 3rd floor seems to be where the coffee gets made, and the front is cutely decorated as a "Jeong Ji-young Academy", which made me laugh :)

And the 4th floor is a space for quiet music, books and some reflection. There were people who'd brought books, people working, and people just quietly enjoying the café, so it felt totally relaxed! :-) Next time I want to bring a book or laptop and enjoy some time alone.

Next up, the 5th-floor rooftop.

It's much bigger than I expected, with all kinds of seating, so the feel is completely different depending on where you sit.

A cool breeze was blowing that evening, and sitting on the rooftop sipping coffee and chatting, we watched the sky change moment by moment. It was such a happy day, haha! We got to enjoy both the weather and the season, with delicious coffee. I recommend Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch, a classic, can't-go-wrong café in Haenggung-dong.
