This time I wanted proper meat in Gochon, so I went to Gogijip. This isn't just a place where you grill meat over charcoal — it's a spot where you get woodae galbi (thick pork/beef ribs) marinated in a special sauce and smoked over a straw fire. What really stood out was that the woodae galbi comes with staff grilling it for you, so you can eat the meat at its best without any hassle. Bottom line: from the quality of the meat to the side dishes, this was an all-round satisfying place, and I wanted to recommend it to anyone looking for a good meat restaurant in Gochon.

Where Gogijip is and when it opens

A clean, comfortable meat restaurant in Gochon
Gogijip is a meat restaurant located in Gochon, Gimpo. I was looking for somewhere to eat meat in Gochon and visited on a whim, but the menu was more varied than expected, which got me excited from the start. Above all, the signature dish here is the woodae galbi — meat marinated in a special sauce and smoked over a straw fire, which gives it a different feel from the woodae galbi you'd get at a typical meat restaurant.

Signature woodae galbi at 56,000 won: is it enough for two?
The woodae galbi we ordered at Gogijip was 560g for ₩56,000. It was a plenty satisfying portion for two people to share. At first I wondered if the actual amount of meat would be less than expected since the bone is still attached, but...

once I actually ate it, the meat yield was really good. What I loved most was that staff do the grilling for you. As they trim the woodae galbi into bite-sized pieces, they carefully debone even the meat stuck to the bone and grill it — this is exactly what a proper grilling service should be.
The Jeolla-style side dishes at Gogijip
Another thing I liked about Gogijip was just how many types of side dishes came along with the meat. From gungchae to gompi, pajeori, and various kinds of Jeolla-style kimchi, it was fun trying each one alongside the meat.
Eating meat non-stop can get a little greasy, but having so many side dishes to switch between made a real difference.
Personally, I loved pairing a bite of meat with gompi or pajeori. They cleared the palate nicely so I never got tired of eating meat.

They bring out mushrooms grilled first wrapped in foil, so ask them to cut and grill it once more.
It genuinely tastes like eating scallops!!
I couldn't resist the sundubu jjigae, so I added a fried egg!

What does straw-fire smoked woodae galbi taste like?
With Gogijip's woodae galbi, you could smell a faint straw-fire aroma even before it was grilled.

Because the meat is marinated in a special sauce and smoked over a straw fire, it carried a subtle smoky flavor and aroma.
The outside cooked to a nice golden brown while the inside stayed juicy, so

every bite delivered both juiciness and smoky flavor together.

They especially debone the chewy meat stuck to the bone and grill it for you — personally, this part was really the best.

It has a chewiness different from the regular meat, so I ended up eating every last bit without leaving anything behind.

Top-grade Korean pork belly, 17,000 won per serving
It felt like a shame to only have woodae galbi, so we ordered pork belly too. Gogijip's pork belly is ₩17,000 per serving, and above all, they use top-grade Korean pork.

The meat itself looked thick and in good condition, and once grilled it had plenty of juice, which was satisfying. It also comes with myeoljeot, and that pairing — well, need I say more.

Dipping the well-grilled pork belly lightly into myeoljeot added a salty umami kick that kept me reaching for more. It has a different charm from the woodae galbi, so I was glad we ordered both.

Is Gogijip worth it for a meat dinner in Gochon?
These were the things I especially liked about Gogijip on this visit.
- Straw-fire smoked woodae galbi marinated in a special sauce
- 560g for ₩56,000 — a decent amount even for two people
- Grilling service that carefully debones even the meat stuck to the bone
- Top-grade Korean pork belly, ₩17,000 per serving
- Myeoljeot that pairs perfectly with the pork belly
- A wide variety of Jeolla-style side dishes like gungchae, gompi, and pajeori
- A tasty sundubu jjigae that comes as a basic side
Rather than just a place with tasty meat, it felt like they'd put real thought into the side dishes and service to help you enjoy the meat at its best. Especially with the woodae galbi, since staff trim and grill it for you, you can eat comfortably without being too busy grilling it yourself — that's a real plus.
