At a Korean BBQ place, somebody always has to hold the tongs, right? Whether it's a company dinner or a family meal, it can feel a bit unfair when you're paying to eat and one person just keeps grilling. Haha.
The staff grill every cut to its best doneness, so all you do is eat. Tender lamb with no gamey smell, and ice cream to finish perfectly.

You can drop that worry entirely, and what I liked most is that it's not just grilling: they adjust the doneness depending on the cut and the condition of the meat.

Partitioned tables: good for family meals and group dinners?
Inside, each table is separated by a high partition. It's not a full private room, but neighboring tables didn't bother me much while eating, so it works for family meals and also seems fine if you're looking for a group dinner spot near Sanghyeon Station.
Outdoor seating 3 years ago, closed now
They used to have outdoor seating too (I tried it before), but it isn't open now~
Sadly, the outdoor seating isn't open now~ My first visit was... about 3 years ago? We ate outside then and the atmosphere was really lovely~ I remember it was early autumn then too~

What side dishes come with the lamb?
The basic sides are peanuts, seasoned cabbage, myeongi namul (pickled wild garlic leaves) and pickled Cheongyang chili peppers, a very tidy lineup. The pickled chili isn't that spicy, so even a spice wimp like me could eat it;;

The pickled chili isn't that spicy, just right for eating!
How do the staff grill the special mixed set?

We ordered the special mixed set for two (₩54,000), which comes with shoulder rack, lamb loin and seasoned mini ribs. First, the most important thing!!
🔥 I never have to pick up the tongs. Haha. The staff adjust the doneness to the state of the meat~

Can you see those fancy hand movements? At Hwaro Yangmi Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Station Branch the staff grill the meat themselves from start to finish, and they cooked the chilled shoulder rack to about medium. The outside was golden from the charcoal and the inside juicy, with almost no toughness.

Lamb loin that melts in your mouth

The lamb loin was quite tender too. Lamb can be hit or miss because of its distinctive smell, but I barely noticed any gamey smell that bothered me in the meat that day.

Young lamb, so my child ate it too
The staff told us they use young lamb under 6 months old, and when I actually ate it the texture was very soft and my child enjoyed it too. I liked that I won't buy good meat and then hold the tongs and turn it past well-done into charcoal. Haha.
I guess it's because they use chilled meat that they can grill it to medium~ It was really tender~
Charcoal-grilled king oyster mushrooms, a tasty extra
They also grill a generous amount of king oyster mushrooms, and these are a treat too. Grilled slowly over charcoal, the moisture stays inside, so even a plain mushroom becomes delicious.
Seasoned lamb ribs to finish the main course

The last item, the seasoned mini ribs, was slightly spicy and really tender too. I ate them by hand and the meat fell off the bone almost completely. No need to wrestle for the meat clinging to the bone.
Beef noodle soup: can kids eat it?
A place serious about meat is serious about everything, and Hwaro Yangmi's noodle soup was good too.

The beef noodle soup I had as a side was satisfying too. It was slightly spicy but mild enough for my child to eat, and finishing with warm broth and noodles after charcoal lamb ribs was a great combination.
One ice cream per person for dessert
One ice cream per person for dessert too.. is there anything they don't have~

And the last course my child loved most was, of course, the ice cream. Haha. They had things like a watermelon bar and a mango screw bar, and we each picked one after the meal. It's a small gesture for adults, but with a kid it quietly boosts how satisfied you are with the visit.
A trail walk after dinner: a good family or couple outing in Gwanggyo?
Hwaro Yangmi Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Station Branch is a place where a whole family or a couple can enjoy a meal feeling a bit treated (?), like an anniversary. The staff grill the meat to its best, the partitions let you talk comfortably, and parking is easy, so it also suits a Gwanggyo group dinner.

After eating my fill, we walked the nearby trail for a bit. Dinner, dessert and a walk flowed together naturally, which made it satisfying as a family outing.

The photos really turn out well... it felt like a scene where the hero walks out in Lord of the Rings!
