It's a cozy sushi restaurant. I had some errands in Bangi-dong, and when lunchtime rolled around I stopped in at Susi Seon, a sushi favorite in the area.

Order the daily sushi and porridge and salad come first
After checking the menu, I ordered the daily sushi and the pick-your-own sushi. Then Susi Seon Bangi Branch brought out porridge and a chojang (sweet-spicy chili vinegar sauce) salad!

The salad made sense, but getting porridge too was a bit of a surprise.

Porridge too, at this price? Yay! And you know what? This porridge is amazing. It's really nutty and delicious.

The salad had lettuce and thin somyeon (wheat noodles) with chojang on top. It was sweet, sour and spicy, and plenty to get my appetite going.

How do you choose pick-your-own sushi at Susi Seon?
Here are the daily sushi and the pick-your-own sushi.

Pick-your-own sushi (내맘대로 초밥) is exactly what it sounds like: no fixed lineup, so you decide both the types and the number of pieces.

I ordered 5 eel, 2 salmon and 3 flounder.

It's my own choice of sushi made with fresh fish: three pieces of flounder, two of salmon, and five of eel sushi.

The rice at Susi Seon is great
But here's the thing: the fish is the fish, but the rice underneath is seriously good. Each grain is chewy and distinct, with a savory-tangy sushi vinegar. So yummy!

Chewing those lively grains of rice was a real pleasure. And this eel... no need to say more, right? 😉 My excellent choice, endless eel love! ^^

Udon or soba: which did I pick?
At Susi Seon Bangi Branch you can choose between udon and soba, and I asked for udon.

I enjoyed the steaming hot udon with the sushi.
