Daegu brunch café window seats and bulgogi shrimp pasta: Otter Rabbit

As the weather's been turning cooler lately, I've been craving days spent lounging at a pretty café over brunch. This time I went looking for brunch spots near Woelgwang Waterside Park and ended up at Otter Rabbit House.

The brick exterior peeking through the green trees looked so nice that I ended up snapping a few photos before even going in.

Where is Otter Rabbit House, and what does the brick building look like?

Otter Rabbit House is a brunch café at 63 Miriaem-gil, Dalseo-gu, Daegu (1st floor), near Woelgwang Waterside Park. The brick building with arched windows and wood-tone accents blended nicely with the surroundings.

Visiting during this cooler stretch of weather, I caught a hint of autumn through the greenery, which made me like the place even more.

I visited on a weekday afternoon and got in right away without waiting, and parked nearby.

Stepping inside, green plants were placed throughout, and each seating area had a slightly different vibe.

I didn't hesitate — I went straight for a wooden table by the window.

Trees were visible through the big window, and soft sunlight filtered in — just sitting there felt comfortable.

Even before the food arrived, I found myself taking photos with the window view as backdrop.

First, the bulgogi shrimp salad pasta came on a big plate with a generous portion.

Bulgogi, shrimp, boiled egg, cherry tomatoes, and parmesan cheese were all piled on, so it felt like one plate packed with a variety of ingredients.

It was plenty for two to share, and the nutty, salty parmesan added flavor without making it too plain or too heavy.

Since you get salad and pasta together, it worked well as a lighter brunch option too.

How the egg basil French toast tastes, 13,000 won

Then came the egg basil French toast I'd been looking forward to.

Thick bread topped with egg and basil pesto —

the outside was slightly crisp while the inside stayed moist, a nice texture combo.

The nutty flavor of the egg mixed with the fragrance of the basil pesto worked better together than I expected.

Best of all, with the food laid out at a sunlit window seat, the photos turned out really pretty. Brunch is about the taste, sure, but I think enjoying the atmosphere along with it is half the fun.

Americanos and the bakery corner at Otter Rabbit House

The coffee at Otter Rabbit House wasn't a sharp, acidic style — more on the heavier side, which paired well with brunch. I ordered one iced and one hot americano so we could each drink to our taste.

There was also a separate bakery corner further inside. I saw croissants, egg tarts, and cinnamon pie, so next time I'd like to pick out some bread or pie too.

There was also a small outdoor garden area behind the café. As it gets cooler, I imagine it'd be nice to have coffee outside while looking at the greenery.

What kind of day is Otter Rabbit House best for?

Coming away from this visit, my impression is that Otter Rabbit House is less a place for a quick bite and more one for sitting by the window and slowly enjoying brunch with sunlight and greenery.

If you want a leisurely brunch near Woelgwang Waterside Park and to spend time in a pretty window seat, this is the kind of place that'll come to mind.

Next time I'll try other pasta or bakery items, and on a nice day, I want to sit in the outdoor seats out back too.
