Why I went to Garak Mall for sashimi takeout

Yeongjae Susan (영재수산) is a sashimi takeout shop in the fish section on the 1st floor of Garak Mall at Garak Market. I'd been eating way too much meat lately, so that weekend I was craving sashimi! You can eat it on the spot, but I chose takeout so I could enjoy it at home. Since I'd come out so far for the first time in a while, I thought a fish market would be perfect, so I went to Yeongjae Susan at Garak Mall :))

Where is Yeongjae Susan in Garak Mall, and what's the parking like?

Yeongjae Susan is at Garak Mall 1F, Unit C-10, right where the fish section begins, so it's not hard to find.

The Garak Mall parking lot is spacious but busy, so spots were surprisingly scarce. But most people are there for takeout, so a space opened up pretty quickly.

Yeongjae Susan takeout sizes and what I ordered

Yeongjae Susan also had loads of in-season wild squid and wild shrimp!! I haven't had raw shrimp sashimi this year yet, so next time I'm coming for that.

• Sashimi takeout, medium: 700g+
• Sashimi takeout, large: 900g+

They had lots of kinds of shellfish too.

What I picked was the nonggwangchamhoe (a set of sea bass, flounder and sea bream sashimi) small 6.5 order! It's large sea bass / large flounder / large sea bream.

Does Yeongjae Susan take delivery and text orders?

You can order Yeongjae Susan through lots of delivery apps: Baemin, Yogiyo, Naver, Ineogyojudan Haejeokdan and Coupang Eats. There were plenty of takeout customers, and delivery riders kept coming in nonstop.

Parking is free for up to 3 hours, and takeout customers get the same parking discount ticket as dine-in customers, so no worrying about parking fees!

I heard you can order from Yeongjae Susan by text message too. Not just live-fish sashimi: lobster, snow crab, king crab and more can all be ordered and delivered.

For Garak Mall parking, you settle in advance using the discount ticket. It's free for up to 3 hours, so unless something unusual happens, you won't pay anything.

The small nonggwangchamhoe set at home: how big and how thick?

Yeongjae Susan packed the sashimi in a cooler bag with ice packs, so even though the ride home took 30 minutes, it arrived fresh. I set it up the second I got home.

Ta-da! From the left: sea bass, sea bream, flounder. The portion was seriously generous and the slices were crazy thick. Really chunky, and each piece was huge, haha.

Sashimi wrapped in aged kimchi, perilla and seaweed

I rinsed the aged kimchi (mugeunji) I had at home and ate it alongside. The flounder fin, wait, why is it so rich and nutty? I got the perilla leaves and seaweed from home ready too, and wrapped everything up to eat!

And out came the soju I'd frozen in the freezer the day before 🍺 Cheers ❤️

Can you get a free spicy stew kit at Yeongjae Susan?

At Yeongjae Susan, if you tell the owner you need stew fish parts when you pack your order, they just include them as a freebie, hehe 🤗 So I didn't buy any separately. Finishing with spicy fish stew (maeuntang) is a must!

There were tons of bean sprouts in it too. The bones were a nice variety, and it was plenty for two! Thanks for the meal again today :))
