Duck barbecue restaurant in Goyang: Seokgi Sidae's generous set

I was craving duck, so I visited Seokgi Sidae (석기시대) right in front of Gusan IC on Jayu-ro. It is literally right there when you exit Gusan IC on Jayu-ro, so it was really easy to find.

When you are getting around by car, easy access matters more than you might think, right? You can spot it as soon as you come off Gusan IC on Jayu-ro!! It opens from 6 AM, so I think it would also be great for a meal when traveling by tour bus in the morning or heading out on a trip.

Seokgi Sidae also has a large parking lot, so there is no need to worry about parking. The restaurant is on the first floor, and there is a café operating on the second floor, so it looked convenient for taking care of coffee after the meal in one go. 👍🏻

There is a fountain and an open area in front of the restaurant, too, so when the weather cools down, it would be nice to spend some relaxed time before or after eating.

Looking around, both the terrace and indoor areas were generously spacious, so it seemed like a good place for family dining or group meals as well. If you are looking for a good meat restaurant in Gusan-dong, the roomy setting should make for a comfortable meal.

Small spicy stir-fried duck order with complimentary duck soup

Seokgi Sidae's main dishes are spicy stir-fried duck and charcoal-grilled duck. And naturally, the number-one choice is the spicy stir-fried duck!

The three of us visited and ordered the small spicy stir-fried duck, and a variety of side dishes were set out with it.

When you order the spicy stir-fried duck, duck soup comes complimentary too—amazing, right!? A whole menu item is free, haha.

Even though it was a complimentary dish, the duck soup had a satisfying amount of broth and meat, and it paired nicely with the spicy stir-fried duck and its warm broth. They told us the duck meat in the soup tastes good dipped in chojang (sweet-tangy chili sauce), so I made sure to enjoy the meat along with the broth.

At first, with the duck spread across a huge griddle, the portion looked a little small. But with the duck soup included and the vegetables stir-fried alongside it, it was not lacking at all.

A staff member stir-fries the duck first, then adds the vegetables and stir-fries everything again once the meat is partly cooked. When the vegetables soften just a little, it is ready to eat.

The spicy stir-fried duck was delicious even on its own, with the seasoning soaked in nicely, and it also went well wrapped in napa cabbage or pickled radish sheets.

The chewy texture of the meat and the spicy seasoning really whetted my appetite, so I kept reaching for more. When you are looking for a great duck place in Ilsan, I do not think you can leave out spicy stir-fried duck.

A tip: save some for fried rice

It would be a little disappointing to skip fried rice after spicy stir-fried duck, right? Haha. We were full, but it still felt like fried rice was a must~

We enjoyed it so much that we ate almost all the meat and vegetables, which was a tiny bit of a shame, but the rice stir-fried in the remaining sauce was still nutty and delicious.
