What kind of bakery is Tomoru Bakery?

Tomoru Bakery (송도토모루베이커리) is a famous bakery in Songdo. A Korean master baker (제과기능장) with commendations and competition awards kneads the dough himself, which makes it even tastier, they say! My friend had already heard about it by word of mouth. The white castella (sponge cake) and the low-sugar ciabatta are said to be especially famous. Prices are friendly too, so do try it!!

Well known as a bakery near Songdo Central Park, Tomoru Bakery was easy to spot thanks to its antique-style exterior. When I went looking for a bakery near Incheon National University Station, it was close to the subway station, so it's easy to reach by public transport, and it's a perfect stop after a walk in Central Park!

Tomoru Bakery hours and parking

Tomoru Bakery is open every day from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., all year round, and free parking is available in the building. The address is 23 Haedoji-ro 120beon-gil, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, South Korea (1st floor, Unit 101).

I went by car that day, and the underground parking lot in the building was pleasant, so I could browse the bread at leisure with no parking stress.

What is the inside of the bakery like?

Tomoru Bakery has a clean interior and is quite spacious.

The trays for the bread were very clean too, so there were no hygiene worries.

Aisles between display shelves inside Tomoru Bakery

Compared with other Songdo cafés I've visited before, Tomoru Bakery has wide, calmly arranged aisles between the display shelves, so you can look at the bread comfortably even at busy times. The neatly placed bread under soft lighting looked really appetizing, haha.

There were commendation certificates and award certificates, and medals from various awards were on display too!

I thought these were awards worthy of a top bakery, hahaha.

What organic and reduced-sugar breads are there?

The shelves at Tomoru Bakery were neatly stocked with lots of kinds of bread made fresh that same morning. From savory salt bread to sweet mont blanc, baguettes crisp outside and moist inside, red bean butter bread (aeng-beoteo), cream buns, tarts and cakes, the choice was really wide!!

There's also a solid lineup of healthy breads like ciabatta and whole wheat loaves, so you could feel they'd thoughtfully catered to people who prefer plain flavors ~~ Organic flour, natural sourdough starter, AOP-certified butter, antibiotic-free eggs and no artificial additives are said to be Tomoru Bakery's signature features.

The salt bread I bought had a nicely hollowed-out cave inside, and the butter flavor was no joke.

Are there sandwiches and cakes too?

Sandwiches that make a full meal were also in the fridge, and they looked fresh and tasty.

Which of the breads I bought do I recommend?

The 5 breads bought at Tomoru Bakery

Of the 5 breads from Tomoru Bakery, the best ones I most strongly recommend are the basil tomato and the roe-scallion baguette. I picked these out in the shop after a lot of agonizing.

  • Basil tomato: the fresh tomato and fragrant basil flavor was amazing
  • Roe-scallion baguette: the sharp scallion inside the crisp baguette and the salty pollock roe make a savory depth, and I really want to eat it again!!
  • White castella: the soft, moist texture is great, so be sure to pick it
  • Salt bread and roe salt bread: reheated in the air fryer, they were crisp outside with a rich butter flavor inside, the best

All 5 breads I bought this time were a success, so even when I stop by again I'd want to rebuy this exact lineup. It was the best choice ><

Overall verdict on Tomoru Bakery

Tomoru Bakery was a satisfying bakery where the freshness of the ingredients and the care put into the baking came through completely. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for tasty desserts and bread near Central Park or Triple Street.

I've been to many Songdo bakeries in the past, but few bring out the true flavor and texture of bread this well. If you're looking for a good bakery for a Songdo bakery tour or a Songdo date, please stop by and try it!! Highly recommended 🖤
