Jeongwang-dong spicy pork bone stew with snow cheese: Cheongchun
In short
Cheongchun Bulbbyeojjim & Gamjatang Jeongwang Station branch is a braised pork bone and gamjatang (pork bone soup) restaurant right in front of Jeongwang Station in Siheung, Gyeonggi. To unwind after work, two diners shared a medium bulbbyeojjim (spicy braised pork bones) with snow cheese for 2,500 won, finished with self-serve fried rice, and took home a 10,000 won bone hangover soup. Cheongchun is a good-value spicy bone stew spot, with sauce slightly hotter than Shin Ramyun and 6–7 generous pork backbones.

What is Cheongchun Bulbbyeojjim & Gamjatang Jeongwang Station branch like?
Cheongchun Bulbbyeojjim & Gamjatang (청춘불뼈찜&감자탕) Jeongwang Station branch is a spicy braised pork bone (bulbbyeojjim) and gamjatang (pork bone stew) shop on Mayu-ro 418beon-gil in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung, right in front of Jeongwang Station. It is open 7 a.m. to 11:55 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends. For parking, use the building's underground lot (2 hours free) or a paid public lot.
After work, on one of those days when I really did not want to cook!! I came for Cheongchun's spicy braised bones! Meetings that go nowhere are so exhausting and stressful!! Yes!! So I came to blow off steam with something spicy!!
I usually order delivery, but today we visited in person!! I often get the gamjatang delivered, and the portions are huge!~ Cheongchun's spicy braised bones are a delivery favorite too!

Seriously!! Cheongchun is really good with the backbone cuts!! So, time to go in for the spicy braised bones!!!

You look prettiest when you're gnawing on bones!!
Reading the funny sign as we head in!!

Can you eat here solo or for breakfast?
Cheongchun's Jeongwang Station branch is small but cute, so it is perfect for eating alone. It opens at 7 a.m. on weekdays and is right in front of the station, so I think it would work for breakfast too!!

What are the set-for-two price and contents?
The set for two at Cheongchun is in the low-to-mid ₩20,000s and combines braised bones, bone hangover soup, steamed egg and kalguksu (knife-cut noodles). It is plenty good value!! The table next to us was having a glass of soju with it as a snack!!

Is a medium bulbbyeojjim too much for two?
We!! ordered a medium bulbbyeojjim for two!!! I should have given up my greed.. ㅠ I forgot how big the portions are...

These are the standard side dishes and steamed egg!! Because of my princess who can't handle spice, we added snow cheese! The snow cheese costs ₩2,500!!!

Here comes the cheese-topped bulbbyeojjim!!! The side dishes are radish kimchi (kkakdugi), kimchi, chives and pickled radish! Before digging in!! we soothe our stomachs with the steamed egg!! It is soft and silky steamed egg!!

What goes into the bulbbyeojjim
The medium pot has rice cakes, wedge potatoes, glass noodles and more! The wedge potatoes are tasty on their own.. but with the sauce they're the kicker! There are also quail eggs, shredded scallions and more scattered through it, so it is generous!! And about 6-7 pork backbones, which is plenty!!
How spicy is it?
The spiciness is a little hotter than Shin Ramyun, but with the cheese it was fine for me! The spicy aroma hits you!! The sauce has soaked in evenly!!
And the cheese is real cheese with no vanilla smell, and it stretches nicely! Glad we added it!!

I gave the cheese to my princess and went after the meat myself! Plump backbone meat! No gamey smell at all, and it was tender! The spice wasn't overwhelming either! I don't like things too sweet, and the sweetness was just right!!!
I ate it with the chive salad!! and with the soft glass noodles and cheese!!! Normally two people would get the small, so this was needless greed!! I'm stuffed ㅠ I hesitated for a moment.. but still, to finish!! it has to be fried rice!!!!

Finishing with self-serve fried rice
After finishing the bulbbyeojjim, we ordered the self-serve fried rice!! It was a bit different from the fried rice last time.. Maybe they didn't put kimchi in because the sauce is already spicy!!! I mix it in hard!!!

Press it on the pan for a bit!!! then top with chives and radish kimchi and eat!!! As expected!!! Even when you're full, finishing with fried rice!! makes it so much more satisfying!!!!

What about the takeout bone hangover soup?
Cheongchun's bone hangover soup (ppyeo-haejangguk) is a blessedly cheap ₩10,000. Of course!!! Today too!! takeout!! The sharp, tangy broth is excellent!!! Let's call this dinner tonight!! Mom is tired!!!!
