Songdo study café with 3 p.m. salt bread and iced americano: Cozy Bear

It's really starting to feel like fall lately, the kind of weather that makes you want to sit outside~~

With the semester just starting, I'm a college student, so finding a study café is absolutely essential!! While walking around Songdo, I spotted a café with an eye-catching exterior — Cafe Cozy Bear Salt Bread Bakery Songdo Hagwonga Branch, a salt bread bakery café on the 1st floor of 160-19 Haedoji-ro, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. It's open Tuesday through Sunday, 09:00–18:00, and you can use the building's underground parking lot or the public lot right in front of the store.

What time does Cozy Bear's salt bread come out of the oven?

Cozy Bear's salt bread comes out fresh from the oven twice a day, at 9am and 2pm 🥐 I got there around 3pm and still managed to grab it warm! From the entrance you could already smell that unmistakable salt-bread-shop aroma~~ I'd definitely recommend timing your visit to catch it fresh out of the oven!

They say they use French fermented butter, Guérande sea salt, and French flour, so they're clearly putting thought into flavor and texture! They only make a set amount each day, so it can sell out early — just a heads up!

Cozy Bear also has outdoor seating perfect for enjoying this kind of nice weather! Both the tables and chairs have a lot of character, the sunlight pours in beautifully, and the brown-and-green backdrop makes for great photos! Highly recommend it if you're on the hunt for a photo spot ✨

Indoor seating: is Cozy Bear good for studying?

Inside, Cozy Bear plays soft background music that's nice for working. In such a comfortable atmosphere, it'd also be a great spot to meet up with friends! I ended up chatting with a friend for 2 hours straight haha.

The interior stays really clean too — the staff kept wiping down tables the moment they were free.

Cozy Bear's menu and how to order

The freshly made salt bread lined up so neatly — the visual alone made my mouth water ㅜㅜ

Since the name is "Cozy Bear," I guess the mascot is a bear ㅋㅋㅋ There are so many adorable bear mascots displayed around the shop. From the many menu items, I ordered the plain salt bread, castella salt bread, and an iced americano! One thing that stood out while ordering — the owner was incredibly kind, which I really appreciated!

What does the plain salt bread taste like?

I started with the most classic option, the plain salt bread, and the bread itself was so soft and fluffy, the texture was great... At first I was a bit worried since there wasn't an obvious butter cavity, but after one bite — wait, this was so much better than I expected.

And the bottom, where the butter melts in — that's really the heart of a good salt bread — was seriously amazing…! Crispy with a rich, savory butter flavor that kept me reaching for more. Clean but subtly salty, so it was easy to eat without feeling heavy, and honestly, out of everything I tried, this was my personal favorite!!

On top of that, they're currently running an opening event where you get one free for writing a Naver review, so definitely try it if you can!

Castella salt bread: the sweet-and-salty one

Since it's called castella salt bread, I assumed it'd just be plain sweet, but it turned out way better than expected! The soft, sweet castella flavor combined with the salt sprinkled on top gave it that proper sweet-and-salty balance ㅜㅜ

It could easily have tipped into being too rich or too sweet, but the salt kept stepping in to balance things out — a real dark horse I didn't see coming... I think people who love sweet bread, or who've found plain salt bread a bit boring before, would especially enjoy this one :)

Iced americano at Cozy Bear

The star always shows up last. Cozy Bear's iced americano made a great first impression just from the smooth crema layered on top! One sip in, and the rich, nutty bean flavor hit right away — the coffee itself felt really full-bodied.

Maybe thanks to the crema, the first sip was smooth and full, but the finish stayed clean, so I kept going back for more. Paired with the salt bread, the coffee cut right through the buttery, salty flavor of the bread — the pairing was really good. No wonder the coffee has a reputation, there were so many people getting it to go! And the price is affordable too, seriously unbeatable value!

Honestly, yesterday I had a really~~ disappointing americano and it left me a little down, but this one totally refreshed me — such good coffee.

The core baking area is also open-style, visible from outside, so you can actually watch the salt bread being made! Seeing how clean and hygienic everything looked made it even more reassuring to enjoy the bread :)

Where to park near Cozy Bear

You can use the building's underground parking lot at Cozy Bear, and there's also a public parking lot right in front of the store, so it's convenient for anyone visiting by car! No need to hunt around for a parking spot, which makes it a great place to visit even if you're driving :)
