Cheonan BBQ for expecting parents: gabrisal at Cham Dwaejitgan
In short
Cham Dwaejitgan Cheonan Dujeong Branch is a rice-husk smoked pork belly restaurant in Dujeong-dong, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan. A couple expecting a baby any day ordered two servings of samgyeopsal (pork belly) and one of gabrisal (pork shoulder blade), which staff grilled at the table, then added potato slices and finished with fried rice. With a clean dining room and a well-stocked sauce and vegetable self-bar, Cham Dwaejitgan is a safe bet for pork belly in Cheonan.

Today I visited Cham Dwaejitgan, a pork belly spot in Dujeong-dong. The interior was clean, the staff were kind, and best of all the meat was delicious — I recommend it :)

Where is Cham Dwaejitgan Cheonan Dujeong Branch, and where do you park?
Cham Dwaejitgan Cheonan Dujeong Branch is on Wondujeong 5-gil in Seobuk-gu, Cheonan, and it's open until late at night, so it's great for company dinners or a second or third round!!!
About 2 cars can park in front of the shop! It's not super spacious, so I'd suggest the nearby alleys or Dujeong Public Parking Lot No. 1!

Three things that set Cham Dwaejitgan apart
- Rice-husk smoking
- Jirisan black pork & Boseong green pork, grade 1
- Staff grill the meat for you

The tables had plenty of room and the place was really clean!!! There's also group seating, so keep that in mind~

What does a rice-husk smoked grill pan do differently?
The grill at Cham Dwaejitgan was quite different from other BBQ places from the start~ Rice husk surrounds the edge and charcoal sits in the center! Rice-husk smoking is Cham Dwaejitgan's signature feature. My husband said that even without dipping the meat in anything, he loved the smoky rice-husk aroma while eating. I'd recommend trying the meat plain first👍

Banchan, sauces and what's on the self-bar
And here's why I especially liked Cham Dwaejitgan!! There were so many sauces and vegetables to eat with the pork belly. You could say it kept things from getting boring? hahahaha

You get basic fermented kimchi, bean sprouts, and minari (water dropwort)! You can't resist kimchi and minari with pork belly, right hahahaha — an endless combo!

Shiitake wasabi sauce, wasabi, spicy sauce, salt, garlic, and ssamjang (thick soybean-chili paste) come as the basic setup. It was nice being able to mix and match, and the mushroom wasabi sauce especially was unusual and delicious :)

For lettuce wraps, kimchi, and sauces, use the self-bar!

Cham Dwaejitgan menu and prices
Jirisan black pork & Boseong green pork, grade 1. Cuts like pork belly, neck, and five-layer pork are priced between ₩16,000 and ₩19,000! King oyster mushrooms, minari, and potato slices need to be ordered separately~!

Two servings of pork belly plus one gabrisal for two people
The two of us ordered 2 servings of pork belly and 1 serving of gabrisal! Finishing with fried rice, it turned out to be just the right amount for two people~
A place where they grill it for you is the best!!! They grilled it so carefully hahahaha. It's so nice being able to focus purely on eating without worrying about the grilling ✨

Gabrisal takes longer to grill than pork belly, so we ate the pork belly first! It had a good mix of fat woven through, just the right amount of richness — I liked the pork belly better than the gabrisal, but my husband said he preferred the tender gabrisal!

Once it's fully cooked, they move the meat down to the lower grill plate so it doesn't burn! Being able to eat it warm until the very end — I was really grateful to the staff for that ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

Potato slices with pork, garlic scapes and mushroom wasabi
And the potato slices!!! I thought they tasted good even before going on the grill, but grilled separately like this, they get totally crispy — kind of like eating them with potato chips? The staff suggested trying potato slices with meat, garlic scapes, and mushroom wasabi together, and I got why they recommended that combo! Absolutely delicious

Finishing the meal with fried rice
To finish: fried! rice! They stir-fried the leftover kimchi, bean sprouts, and minari into it, and it was the perfect ending :)

Phone chargers and hair ties: the extras on the house
Cham Dwaejitgan's best service! Everything was there to make your meal comfortable — phone chargers, deodorizer, hair ties, glasses cloths, mouthwash, and more~!

We finished off with a yogurt drink to cleanse the palate! With the baby due soon, I've been treating every meal like a possible last supper — and this one was so good, I'd honestly be satisfied if it truly were my last~!
If you're looking for a pork belly restaurant in Cheonan that never disappoints, I recommend Cham Dwaejitgan👍
