Daytime drinks for 3 at Dujeong-dong sashimi restaurant Donghae Bada

In short

Donghae Bada Hoetjip is a sashimi and seafood stew restaurant in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan. Three friends each drove over, parked in the restaurant's own lot, and shared the 130,000 won sashimi and seafood stew set for three: seaweed soup, savory pancakes, fish, salad, a flounder and tuna sashimi platter, and a seafood stew with live abalone. Open from 11:30 am, Donghae Bada Hoetjip works just as well for daytime drinks as for a group dinner or a family meal.

Sashimi and seafood stew spread at Donghae Bada Hoetjip in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan

Where is Donghae Bada Hoetjip in Dujeong-dong, and is there parking?

I went out for sashimi with friends after a long while. This time we visited Donghae Bada Hoetjip in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan!

It's in a location that's easy to reach from both Baekseok-dong and Dujeong-dong, and even from Buldang-dong it's only about ten minutes by car, so getting there was more convenient than I expected. What I liked most of all was how easy parking was! Even though the three of us each drove separately, there was a private parking lot, so we could walk right in without worrying about where to park. When a group gets together, parking matters almost as much as the food, so this seems like a good option for anyone looking for a group dinner spot among Dujeong-dong restaurants.

And here's the thing — this place welcomes daytime drinking too, haha. Since they open at 11:30am, it's great for having a drink with sashimi starting from lunchtime. It was exactly the kind of atmosphere for three women to eat well and chat from midday.

What comes with the 130,000 won sashimi and seafood stew set for three

What we ordered that day was the course that comes with both sashimi and seafood stew. It was the 130,000 won set for three people, and to cut to the chase... the portions were really, really huge, haha. We all agreed it would be great for a family gathering.

The three of us ate hard, and by the end we honestly thought our stomachs would burst. The food started arriving generously, one dish at a time, and since we'd only expected sashimi, we were pleasantly surprised by how many different dishes came along with it.

The first thing that got a thumbs up, surprisingly, was the miyeokguk (seaweed soup)! It had tiny shrimp in it, and the broth was really clean and delicious. I'm not usually someone who seeks out seaweed soup, but one spoonful in, I was like 'oh, this seaweed soup is actually good!' haha. It was also nice for settling the stomach with something warm and clean before digging into the sashimi.

Warm, crispy jeon pancakes and grilled fish to start

The savory pancake (jeon) that came alongside was tasty too. It was served in a size that wasn't too big or too small — warm and crispy on the outside, perfect for picking at one piece at a time between bites of sashimi. There was also a whole fish served separately.

This kind of spread is great for adults having a drink together, but I thought it would also work well for families with kids. Kids who aren't quite ready for raw fish or seafood can still eat the fish, the pancake, or the seaweed soup. There was also a salad — I'm not exactly sure what the sauce was, but it had a slightly nutty, tangy feel. Overall it was nice that the meal wasn't all heavy flavors, with dishes here and there to reset your palate.

And finally, one of today's mains — the sashimi! It was made up of flounder, tuna, and more, in a portion that was plenty for three of us to share. The tuna in particular wasn't just one simple cut — several different parts came out together, which made it fun to pick and choose. The sashimi itself was served in a generous amount, good for slowly working through with a drink. Between all our talking, we ended up eating quite a lot of it without noticing. But that wasn't the end of it, haha...

The real star: seafood stew with live abalone

Personally, the dish that stuck with me most that day was the seafood stew. I was surprised once just looking at the size of the pot, and surprised again seeing all the seafood inside, haha. It was packed with truly fresh seafood. In particular, we could actually see the abalone still moving. Squid, octopus, and various other seafood were packed in generously.

The pot felt filled to the brim, so it wasn't a stew you just drink the broth from — it was one where the fun was in fishing out the seafood. The roe and milt in the stew were also really fresh.

If you like this kind of seafood, satisfaction level should be pretty high. The broth was clean and refreshing, probably because it's loaded with seafood, so it went well as a drinking snack and also paired nicely with rice.

Is Donghae Bada Hoetjip worth it for daytime drinks and group dinners?

The three of us really ate hard that day. And the result was... completely stuffed, haha. We were so full we could barely breathe. It's a 130,000 won set for three, but with sashimi, seafood stew, pancake, fish, seaweed soup and more all coming out, and generous portions throughout, it felt like a truly filling meal overall.

Above all, it's easy to reach from both Baekseok-dong and Dujeong-dong, and it's only about ten minutes from Buldang-dong, so it seems like a good spot for people coming from different areas to meet up. Having a private parking lot is a big plus too. So this is the kind of place I'd think of when looking for somewhere to eat with a group — a group dinner spot among Dujeong-dong restaurants, a family gathering, or a get-together with friends. And since they open from 11:30am, it's good not just for evening dinners but for daytime drinking sessions too, right? Haha.

If you want to eat both sashimi and seafood stew and have a proper, filling meal, this is a place worth visiting at least once. We left that day completely stuffed and satisfied. :) If you're looking for a group dinner spot among Dujeong-dong restaurants in Cheonan, put Donghae Bada Hoetjip — easy parking and generous portions — on your shortlist.
