Café Meomureum (카페 머무름) is in the shopping complex of the Dongsin Complex 1 apartments in Jeongja-dong, Suwon, so you can park for free in the complex lot. I was in Suwon on a business trip, and after lunch I was desperate for coffee. Finding a café with parking was harder than I expected. Then I found Café Meomureum in Jeongja-dong.

Because the café is inside the apartment complex's shopping arcade, free parking in that lot was a real plus. In the Seoul metropolitan area most people get around on foot, but when you come from another region on business, or have errands that need a car, visiting a café is really hard. Having a place to park felt like a big advantage.

Which floor of the shopping complex is Café Meomureum on?

Café Meomureum is on the 2nd floor of Dongsin Complex Shopping Center, not the 1st. Inside the building you get a homey, old-fashioned feel. Go up the stairs and you will see signs pointing the way to Café Meomureum, and if you follow them you will find it. It is seriously clean and full of hip vibes.

Café Meomureum has coffee, ade and plenty of other drinks, and it runs a bakery too. There was a watermelon juice made from blended fresh seasonal watermelon, and a line I had seen in memes, hahaha: "I'm hooked! Hooked on the buttery smell of salt bread!" The owner seems to keep up with trends.

I ordered an iced americano, and you can choose your beans. There are separate decaf beans, so if you are going in the evening, I recommend decaf! I had been driving for hours and actually needed the caffeine, so I did not go decaf, haha.

Café Meomureum makes a wide range of baked goods, from basic desserts to trendy breads. They even had butter tteok (butter rice cake), the trend that arrived after the dujjonku (Dubai-style chewy cookie) craze. While I was deciding what to eat, the owner said the chestnut pastry was good too, so I ordered the chestnut pastry and a peach yogurt macaron.

Seating and atmosphere: is it good for studying alone?

True to its name ("meomureum" means staying a while), the café gives off the feel of a space where you can stay and rest comfortably. It was quiet, yet I was surprised by how many seats there were, and there was a prettily decorated mirror photo spot too.

For people who come alone, it is nice to have a relaxed cup of coffee while looking outside through the large windows. Some people can't study in a library but study well in a café, right? A little white noise actually helps them focus! For those people, Café Meomureum also has seats with a study-room feel.

I heard drinks are ₩1,000 off for takeout! I was short on time, so I got mine to go, and even the takeout cup was super cute. Above all, the owner was so kind. The iced americano kept its crema, and it was not bitter but nutty with some acidity, exactly my taste.

The shells of the peach yogurt macaron were totally crunchy outside and chewy inside, completely my taste. It is full of buttercream filling, but the tang of the yogurt and the peach aroma keep the macaron from feeling greasy, so I could enjoy it happily.

The chestnut is not in whole pieces; each one is mashed and goes inside the pastry like chestnut cream or chestnut powder. The outside is totally crunchy with a moderate coating of syrup, and the aroma and flavor of chestnut spread gently. So good.
