Dongtan gyukatsu restaurant: striploin set with mini curry, Hurato

Hurato Sikdang Dongtan Lake Commo (후라토식당 동탄레이크꼬모점) is a gyukatsu (breaded beef cutlet) restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Lake Commo shopping mall in Dongtan, Hwaseong. On a late weekday lunch alone, the writer ordered the 19,500 won gyukatsu set with shrimp tempura, karaage and mini curry added, and grilled the striploin cutlet to taste on a personal mini brazier. For gyukatsu done right in a shopping mall, Hurato Sikdang is a solid choice, and the mini curry is worth adding.

Suwon Station kalguksu, solo dinner: bibim noodles, bossam, Daseon

Daseon Kalguksu Main Branch (다선칼국수 본점) is a long-running kalguksu (knife-cut noodle) restaurant on Hyanggyo-ro in Paldal-gu, near Suwon Station, in business since 1990. To avoid the lunch crowds, the writer went alone for dinner, got in with no wait, and ordered bibim kalguksu (spicy mixed noodles), a small suyuk bossam (boiled pork) and Jangsu draft makgeolli. Daseon Kalguksu's chewy, spicy bibim kalguksu paired with tender suyuk bossam served warm in a steamer made a satisfying solo dinner with a drink.

Suwon café on a business trip: chestnut pastry to go at Café Meomureum

Café Meomureum (카페 머무름) is a bakery café on the 2nd floor of the Dongsin Shopping Center in Jeongja-dong, Jangan-gu, Suwon, with free parking in the shopping center lot. On a business trip, the writer got an iced americano, the owner's recommended chestnut pastry and a peach yogurt macaron to go; the coffee was nutty with a bright acidity, and both desserts were flaky and not greasy. For business travelers with a car looking for coffee and dessert in Jeongja-dong, Café Meomureum is a good choice.

Suwon flower café: mango cheese bingsu, pale pink bouquet at Bomflower

Bomflower (봄플라워) is a flower shop and café near Seonggyungwandae Station in Suwon, Gyeonggi. Suncheon burger shop: Double vs Avocado Beef Burger at Burger Forest

Burger Forest is a handmade burger shop near Jorye Lake Park in Wangji-dong, Suncheon, Jeonnam. For lunch, the Avocado Beef Burger and Forest Double Burger were ordered as sets (₩4,000 extra over the single burger) with the fries swapped for sweet potato fries, and each burger was split half and half.
